Agreed but he isn't an auto pick. He will still have keep playing like he is. Bellyache will demand that standard. If Smith retires I doubt Melb can keep playing chess game footy, the robotic pack with 3 bigs in the middle is on the way out. Grant at 9 and Smith at 13. Jesse and finucane up front may be the way forward. Big mistake moving croft off if they haven't got another 7. Hughes isn't a 7 and Munster isn't a leader.
