Shawshank quality is a tall order, but depends on what you're after I guess, Something new or old school.

Movies I recommend are

Shallow grave (1994)
Bone Tomahawk (2015)
Talk radio (1988)
Once upon a time in America (1984)
Oldboy (2003 original w subs, not the spike lee remake)
The deer hunter (1978)

Nothing really new on that list, and you've probably seen some of them but they don't make them like they used to
Oldboy is a movie that recommended to me long ago, but i forgot about. I might have to try it. Korean vengeance flick?

Other than Realist?

Gay blokes. I was suggesting he may like the penis.
Realist isn’t a poof... he just hates feminists (like most straight men). Gay men love women too, they just don’t like giving them vitamin D.

Nah. I'm saying two different things:

1) Realist hates women (not gay, he just hates women 'cause they scare him)

2) if you don't want to have sex with women (you're gay) then you'll probably like the Titanic

After a priceless Apache war mask is stolen from an Indian casino, a host of criminals descends on the small town in hope of claiming the stolen treasure first.

Watched this at 1 am this morning seeing I couldn't sleep and wanted a brainless funny action/comedy and really wish I just jerked off or watched literally anything else instead. This movie stunk worse than a hobo living in a supermarket dumpster. The characters are so thinly veiled spouting awful dialogue that sounds like it was written by a 6th grader, the direction is atrocious and the usually great Gary Oldman was utterly wasted in one of the worse roles I've seen him take to date. Once I start a movie I see it out till the end, this movie was so boring it made me reassess my whole way of thinking.

0.5/5

(the. 05 is for the close up of the hot chicks arse and cleveage, that's it)

I just realised that Cabin in the Woods is now on Netflix. Even though I've seen it 3 times, I'm watching it again. Absolute classic.

Daddy's Home 2

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5657846/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1

Having finally gotten used to each other's existence, Brad and Dusty must now deal with their intrusive fathers during the holidays.

I'm sure I've reviewed this movie here before but I love it - a great family movie for people to enjoy whether or not it's the Christmas season. The movie is great and one of those that is kind of progressive. It's one of those things where you just don't know what's going to happen next, like ((SPOILER ALERT)) John Cena appearing among others.

Good movie, worth a watch if you've seen the first movie.

8.58/10.

A couple of great westerns are Tombstone or Silverado, their not new but worth watching if you haven't seen them, comedies I recommend True Identity which stars Lenny Henry and Wise Guy's stars Danny DeVito.
Also a really good movie A Bronx tale about a kid growing up in a town run by gangs and American history X.

I really don't get the whole Shawshank thing, seen it once and yeah ok, but bit like Sixth Sense, not something I watch again.

I like watching bad movies that are actually good. Sharknado, Plan Nine from Outer Space, Krull, Demolition Man, Last Action Hero etc.

I think the reason why shawshank is rightly considered a classic is due to the powerful acting, great direction and a story you can invest in. Demolition man is a great 90's flick, one of the only movies I can tolerate stallone in. Last action hero is basically a spoof so it's meant to be bad, and it worked quite well imo.

Can't stand sharknado, I watched plan nine from outer space when I was blitzed out of my skull so can't recall anything about it

Four crooks cause trouble while waiting for their leader (Corbin Bernsen) being chased by two inept detectives.

I wasn't expecting anything from this but I'm really glad I watched it. Certainly not a smart or well made movie, but it doesn't have to be the actors are great in their roles and I found it to be a quite funny great late night flick.

7.5/10

(I should have watched this instead of the movie I suffered through before it, that god awful guns, girls and gambling P. O. S)
