I've reiterated it multiple times in this thread, but just for you I'll do it one more time.

He signed a contract under the current CBA for Yawnion players that prohibited him doing what he did. HE BREACHED HIS CONTRACT!!!!!!

The end.
The lawsuit may about whether that a company is allowed to even put that in a contract? i.e. can a contract prohibit an employee from expressing their religious opinion via a contract?

So remind me again which Australian law Izzy broke? We live in a free country buddy.
He's not being threatened with jail, though, is he? Workplaces are not governed by law. You're essentially saying companies have no right to terminate a contract unless an employee commits a criminal act. There is no provision under Australia's legal framework which prevents private companies from formulating their own COCs, or terminating the contracts of employees who breach them. Izzy was given a second chance after his initial breach and was given the opportunity to apologise the second time around..... According to court documents he openly admitted at one stage that he breached the COC which he willingly signed. He's not a victim of the law, he's a victim of his own words and self contradictions. He's gonna lose his lawsuit. If I'm wrong, I owe you a can of coke.

Even though they acted within their own right I am saying I don't agree with Rugby over his treatment, they are making a big mistake he is no criminal. Yes he will probably lose his court case but the NRL should not go down the same path. Beattie was a dickhead who jumped the gun. I have yet to hear Greenberg speak definitely on the matter.

yeah she was there for a few months and then the employees were all asked to provide their social media accounts, so because she refused, they terminated her... I mean there is probably some legal avenues she could have taken, but she probably couldn't be bothered seeing as she had no plans of being there long term, but still.
I don't understand the basis of it though brother. I mean why were they wanting it anyway... to add them as friends or to do checks on their private life? Regardless it doesn't sound legal. She could've sued them - a nice departing gift for her.

Well trust goes right out the business in that case - I wouldn't want to work there either. I've got more important things to do than talk about how shitty the company I work for is on social media!

Lmfao the usual hypocrites at it again.

Sack Kyle sandilands
Laud Israel folau even though folau said something much worse

@KambahOne don't waste your time, your posts have more than CLEARLY explain how folau breached the code of conduct and how he also lied about it but it doesn't matter to the usual group here. They only see and hear what they want to

Wrong.

Folau did not post on Instagram in his capacity as an employee of the ARU

There is no provision under Australia's legal framework which prevents private companies from formulating their own COCs, or terminating the contracts of employees who breach them.
The Australian Constitution supersedes all other Australian laws. Section 116 of the Australian Constitution guarantees the right of religious freedom.

Breaching a Code of Conduct which is illegal under the Constitution means the Code of Conduct was void ab initio.

Your an idiot. Have u stopped for 5 seconds to think how izzy treated his team mates, all his coaches, 500 ex players that played the game for love not money. The sponsors the fans that pay his ridiculous wage.
He thought of no **** when he did what he did but himself the pig headed selfish bitch.
Anyone that wants him at our club has no idea about the word team or thinking of others and putting them before youself.
The real shit that it takes to make a man.
Folau is poison why people cannot see this. Incredible, im gob smacked.

Even worse he cant accept what he fucking did and apologise to his team mates. Still trying to blame others the fucking grub instead of owning his ridiculous fuck ups.
No place in sport for any fuck wit like that.
This bloke makes choc look like a saint.

1. Ok, yo an extent they are governed by law in that they are bound by certain laws, but they are well within their rights to self govern their business by establishing their own rules.... so long as they aren’t in breach of Australian law.

2. It doesn’t matter if he posted in his capacity as an ARU employee. He’s a public figure and willingly signed a social media policy as part of his central contract.

3. His religious freedom has never been denied and that’s the central point we clearly can’t agree on. Folau was not punished because of his religion, he was punished because he is a bonehead who shared an incendiary post on social media. The Bible does NOT encourage followers to go around telling people that hell awaits them. No reasonable Christian would think staying true to their faith required them to share incendiary posts on social media ..... firstly, the Bible explicitly states people should not judge others for their sins lest they be judged themselves. The post he shared did not contain a direct Bible verse - but rather, a very poor attempt at paraphrasing one. The original passage which inspired the post does not even mention Hell. It talks about the grace of God, but doesn’t make the slightest mention of Hell. Nowhere in the Bible does it say salvation is dependant on a person going around telling others they are Hellbound in an antagonistic manner.... on the contrary, it seems to discourage this sort of behaviour. It may encourage Christians to talk about sin and the prospect of salvation to try to save souls, but it certainly doesn’t encourage people to tell others they are Hellbound in a way that is shallow and perfunctory and serves no constructive purpose. The sole reason followers are encouraged to preach against sin is to try to convince others to repent their own sins and there is no way anyone would achieve this goal by sharing a poorly constructed and overly confrontational social media post.

Many openly Christian players are contracted by the ARU and its state affiliates and still hold their jobs because unlike Folau, they see that staying true to their faith is not dependent on them behaving in the way Folau has behaved.

One thing you don’t mention about the constitution is that it is very much open to interpretation by the courts. If you think the court will ultimately interpret things in the same way as you have in Folau’s case, I think you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. His right to his religion was never challenged. The ARU acted on the advice of some of Australia’s sharpest legal minds and you think you have a better understanding of Australian law than they do? Lol!

You're the fucken idiot mate. He has done nothing wrong other than trigger socialist snowflakes like yourself.

There is no need to nail him to the cross, it's just his opinion with which you can agree, disagree or dismiss. I'm sure you have plenty of your own fucked up opinions many disagree with.

You must be one of the alphabet people eventhough your name suggests you are straight. Don't get your lady knickers in a knot buddy.

What have you got against the alphabet? It’s the basis of our entire language. Are you anti English or something?

He’s acted like a greedy, judgmental jerk. At a guess, I would say that’s the way the majority of people see it.

In what way yo you think they’ve made a mistake? RA is struggling financially and that idiot threatened to alienate a number of fans whilst also jeopardising sponsorships and corporate partnerships which are keeping the game afloat in this country. His post served no constructive purpose. He’s an idiot who only has himself to blame for the situation he finds himself in.

So why do a whopping 85% of fans say they would like to see him back in the NRL. The minority is loud that's all and it makes PC people afraid.

Union is treading a fine line. There are many Christian Islanders playing Rugby Union and League who back Izzy but stay silent due to the prospect of being alienated for speaking their beliefs.

I can see a mass exodus by these type of players in the future. Hopefully the NRL leaves the door open.

You really think nrl fans are representative of wider public opinion? Most of them would be voting pretty specifically as sporting fans if they don’t have a particularly strong view one way or another. I think you’ll find their opinion isn’t really reflective of our society as a whole.... and they certainly wouldn’t feel strongly enough snout it to let it turn them off the game.

And wait.... aren’t you saying PC people are the minority? Why would they be afraid of themselves? Come on, man. You’re not even making sense.

Personally, I’m all for second chances.... but I think if Folau insists on stubbornly standing by a post which was non constructive and divisive and is not really representative of true Christian values while portraying himself as a man of integrity, he deserves what he gets.

He’s all about chasing the coin.

That won’t happen, I don’t think. The money is too important to them and in the 21st century, any professional sporting code is going to take a similar stance. They all have to worry about sponsors and the vast majority of companies don’t want to associate with that sort of divisive nonsense.

They are all entitled to believe what they believe.... but if they want to continue to earn top dollar as athletes, they will have to realise they are representing the whole Australian community and be a bit more diplomatic. They may jump codes, but if they think the nrl would react any differently to them repeatedly sharing posts similar in nature to Folau’s, they would be mistaken.
