Good move by the club.... next step is to lock Elliott up until 2030.

For what position, toilet cleaner?

As for JMK 5 kg muscle gain over the off-season probably wouldn't go astray either.
Same with a specialist hooker coach at least over the off-season (Is Ennis available?)

5kg would be way too much. 5kg on an 85-90kg frame would slow him down significantly.

He has already shown he can put big guys on their backs.

I agree some off season strength work will be a good thing, but he also needs to keep/improve his speed off the mark. ala Damien Cook.

Another one of the many players we’ve had over the years that has the odd good game and everyone gets excited and thinks they may have a future. Makeshift hooker at best...
And Lichaa is a career hooker and hasn't done as well in his whole time at our club. And it depends what your idea of a good game is when defining "a few good games". For a hooker a good game is one where the forwards and halves are getting a decent early pass for the bulk of the game so they can easily focus on their side of the game in my opinion. Some people only define a good game from a hooker as one where they make numerous line breaks. Good halves and hookers aren't defined by having a running game. Their role in a team is to ensure that the engine room and the finishers in a team get good ball when opportunity is available.

He really isn't elusive at all despite his pace, I think it's more to do with balance as he usually loses all momentum when pushing away from a defender. He also doesn't really know how to run the footy imo, unless there's a gap Infront of him he can't spot shit or draw defenders.

You might be right - I just prefer to frame it in the context of the current environment at the club.

This isn't 2003 or 2004 where we are running rampant and are the top of the ladder.

We are a bottom 8 team that is trying to rebuild right now I think he's an excellent option at hooker.

From all reports he's a down to earth guy (i.e. no dickheads policy of the swans a few years ago), he is a solid defender in the middle and he appears to be improving in terms of his running game.

Assuming JMK and Katoa have signed for lower end deals, I like this signing. JMK has continued to improve and by all reports he is a hard trainer and keen to learn so I’d expect continued improvement in 2020 and beyond. We haven’t paid overs for a couple of solid No.9 options so I’d hope we have money in the bank for a couple of next level outside backs. If we had paid overs for Api then we could have expected a couple of average outside backs. I think signing an improving JMK and Katoa puts us in a better position to build some strike power out wide.

Well, at the start of the year it was a real toss up as to who was our best hooker option: Lichaa, JMK or Holland. Which was as depressing as the skids.

By the end of the year, JMK was far and away the best option. And I don't think Lichaa went backwards, just stayed at the same shit level.

IMO, Katoa replaces Lichaa as our reggies hooker, thats all. Assuming he has actually signed of course. Someone like Luke would be a good 12 month signing, but perhaps a hooker coach for JMK would be better considering he's re-signed.

JMK is the only option now, wasn't what I wanted but he has the opportunity to continue his development and make the spot his own.

Right now I'd prefer to play him in a utility role off the bench, utility value is crucial these days with HIA's and JMK can pretty much do the basics of most positions. Put the focus into developing his running game so he has the ability to beat players on a more regular basis and you then have a bloke that you can throw on into the centres, hooker, halves or even through the middle to give you some spark while also having the comfort of knowing he will make the required tackles.
