Andrew Webster was mentioning on 2UE on Saturday that the Melbourne Storm Will be giving permission to Brodie Croft to speak to other clubs as they don't see him as their long term halfback and see Jerome Hughes as the future....should the dogs go after him? Would he be the answer to our half back dilemma?

We have Lewis, cogger and Wakeham who all play the same position, plus Foran still on the books for next year. In saying that, I think everyone I mentioned is off contract end of next year, I still don't see Croft as the answer moving forward. So it's a no from me

He's a really average player that is getting found out playing with Smith and Munster imagine what he will be like without that surrounding him!

You can count on one hand the amount of players that have gotten better once they leave the Storm as well. I wouldn't go anywhere near him.

He would have suited the Tigers best tbh. But now they have young Walters that's not going to happen. Broncos or Titans seem the likely destination.

They have Brooks and Benji should go around again. Walters is for Hooker depth, possibly starting with Liddle out.

Storm got it wrong I think... sure Brody ain't the greatest player, but Hughes is a better fullback than half, and the Raiders found out Ryan Papenhuyzen hard... now to the point of him coming to us... meh

May sound arrogant but if Storm don't want him, why should we?

Storm don't lose players unless they want to.
They'd just rather keep Papenhuyzen and Hughes. 3 can't go into 2.

Yeah that's obvious but if he really was wanted, Bellemy would of upped his "fringe benefits" and kept him.

Can he play anywhere in the spine or is he a specialist?

I can't say 100%. I'd say Croft can just play 7. Whereas Hughes can play 1/6 and 7.

Tigers need to move forward from Benji and Farah... Walters should be the 6

Would we need to pay overs to get him?
If competition with Broncos or another club then yes. We actually wouldn't sign him if that was the case, as we're reserving that route for top players.

I genuinely dont think we need to recruit any halves. Nor centers tbh. We have some good prospects coming through in both positions, so I'd rather wait for them and then see how we are looking at the end of next year.
If we go out and spend big on both of these positions for next year then we may regret it if Averilo, Wakeham, Harper and Okunbour really step up next year.
So I would rather we save the money and just see how things pan out next year.
