The Canterbury Bulldogs have set aside a whopping amount of their salary cap in an attempt to lure Fijian flyer Semi Radradra back to the NRL.

Bulldogs Chief Andrew Hill confirmed reports this week he met with the former Parramatta Eel but told The Australian it was only an “introduction.”

However, it has now been revealed the club are ready to offer the 27-year-old a monster deal from 2021, once he finishes his commitments with the Fijian rugby union national team at the Olympics next year.

$800k for a winger that will be 29 and would have been out of the game for 3 years????

If this happens, the board will be deemed worse than the previous one.

We need a damn play maker, CREATOR. We cannot rely on Foran, his body wont last next season.

I'd rather spend 900K or even $1m on a 24yo (by then) Latrell Mitchell. Would only go Radradra if we can afford Mitchell and David Fafita (21yo then) and him as third priority IF there's no great halves available by 2021

Do you think we are using the media to our advantage here?

1. Expressing interest in players without approaching them if they are in the NRL.
2. Putting big money aside for serious bidding for specific players.
3. Broadcast that we are the no. 1 Club to invest in elite players and build a new top 4 team. The perception becomes the reality when star players start to add us to their consideration list.

Media then make these things a reality and the NRL Clubs competing have to then up their bids to compete whether we become serious about those players or not.

If we push Clubs to pay more, there will be more opportunities for us to afford stars to come our way. If we let them get away with the biggest stars getting signed up for a lot less - we are left with competing for B class players.

Yeah don't really believe this is real at all. We may have let it "slip" but find it really unbelievable that we would set aside that sort of money for in 2 years time when we have so many things to do before that! Most of it out of our control to a degree. Nice thing to make everyone pay massive overs for if they believe it though.

Wingers are very important these days but 800k is still too much for that position. That's spine money.

He’s worth $800k, especially (without wanting to make Dibs error) as you’d expect the salary cap to go up for 2021. Big strong outside backs have become extremely important the way the games now played (see origin 2 this year).

I’m pleased the club is being active on the recruitment front, throw enough money at quality players and we’ll eventually land a prize

I think they're in talks with the NRL to allow Barber back into the game. Hear they want to offer him 1.2M and a sack of rocks.

Really don't want this guy at the club... Doubt the club will fork out 800k for the bloke and in all seriousness we will be a laughing stock if we do.

The club needs to target a marquee half first and foremost, as much as I love Foran we need to let him go when his contract finishes, we need someone we can rely on.

Once we have our spine set then we can throw stupid money at outside backs or forwards. What's the point of having Latrell or Semi if they are playing outside of Lewis?
