That is how close Api and JMK are. Only difference is that Api scores tries in 12% of games and JMK scores in 7%. Everything else is effectively the same. People talk up Api cause he's in a good team this year but if JMK was there he'd do a very similar job. Nobody was talking Api up when Manly were going shite the past few years.

But 500K or thereabouts is certainly not the bank by any stretch. Of the top 5 clubs he'd be the cheapest. He's 26/27, in his prime. He had one injury season in 2018 and Manly came equal last, the other season are not as bad (the year he played 24 they came 6th). Hes 18 of 23 this year. He would have been a great foil for JMK, starting and doing the dirty work (his defence is top notch) and letting JMK develop. He also can fill in at half. The facts state he would have been a good buy.

Also the intangibles say he would have had similar effects as DWZ has had for us this year.

JMK is improving, but Api adds more spark and eyes up footy.
Its not the end of the world, we are just disappointed because we have been waiting on a specialist hooker for so long.

Also - we needed to sign someone, and he was the best available. We will lose 2 hookers this off season (Brown and Lichaa) leaving us with no depth in that position.

My fear now is that we will go out and react by signing Levi - who in my opinion, is barely FG quality.

Oh well... thing is, yeah he'd be a good signing for us, because obviously we need a hooker, but he's not the best player going around... I’m willing to sacrifice another year and stick with jmk and wait till someone worthwhile is available 2021.... I see what your saying but i just didn’t rate him atall. There’s a reason manly are letting him go. We just need to find a player that’s either a X factor and pay them mega $ or hve a average/good Hooker at a cheap price that does the job.

JMK has holes in his game in try assists, missed tackles and penalties but if he can improve there he'll be as good as Api. Now that JMK isn't bouncing all over the place from half to hooker to bench to whatever he has the opportunity to prioritise a hooker role and fill these gaps in his game.
