I would have to say to that question is a 'no' too injury prone, better to spend that cash on a less injury prone player, Foran is a great player but if he misses over half a season that's money wasted.

Kieran is a class player and leader. But offering him a big new contract seems risky. The club has done the right thing by him, given him a big contract, worked with him in terms of getting his body right, and the team has a really good spirit going. If he seems willing to be patient and keep proving his worth, rather than go looking for a new contract as soon as November comes around, would prefer to see what next year brings. Don't mind having him around for the rest of his playing career, and maybe beyond in a coaching capacity, the team we had from 2002-04 was filled with players who learned from guys like Stuart and Clyde.

Less than 10 games played next year: Thanks for your service Kieran, good luck in the future.
10-15 games played next year: Offer a 2 year contract around the 1 to 1.2 mil region.
15+ games played next year: Offer a 3 year contract around 2 to 2.5 mil region. Mention the prospect of coaching work.

Incentives based contract only,on current form, and taking the amount of injuries,he's likely to have $600k max,and I doubt any other club would risk paying more than that.

His old man is CEO of Walmart too isn't he? No shortage of cash in that family!
It’s not really a high-paying gig though to be fair:

Greg Foran Salary Package
makes $13,486,500 as Executive Vice President and President and Chief Executive Officer - Walmart U.S. division at Walmart.

And that’s just cash/salary not including share options.

Yowzers....

I was going to start a thread like this last night to get thoughts. Good stuff!

As I’ve said all along, a fit Foran is EASILY our best player - EASILY!!

Unfortunately, he can’t play a whole year.

I would pay him 600-650 3 years (3rd in our favour). I just think he’s got a good year in him still if they manage his body. It ties up a good half, and allows cash for a couple of marquees.

Forans left to right passing last night was f'ing next level.
Pay mentioned and half time the need to execute better and it was all on the back of that.

And he's led Walmart for a loooong time. See what happened there a few weeks ago? Great leader.

$400-$500k, 3 year contract, option in the clubs favour at the end of each season.
You guys are kidding....he is not the future....ffs give cogger a chance to shine....just not long ago people were calling for him to be moved on and now you want him re-signed based on him playing 10 games a year...fuk some people need to wake up to themselves

Foran is a year by year proposition. Sign him up with options in our favour at a much reduced price. In any case he's signed up next year so there's no use even talking about it yet.

There's no way we're winning a premiership with Lewis and Cogger in the halves.

Ballsey player. Huge heart. Ultimate competitor. Fearless. But his body let him down at a very young age. Probably 27 saw his huge decline (if not younger).

He is an inspirational leader and would make a great captain. If your captain puts his body on the line every play then it will motivate the rest of the team.

If he played 40 games in the last 2 seasons he is worth 750. He played his 23rd game. And he has only played in 4 wins this year (2 in the last fortnight). So no matter what you say about him. His back, hamstrings, and calves will never hold out for 25 games a year. The ankle injuries were freak injuries. And maybe he rushed to get back. But he isn’t the player he was in 2011. And he can’t keep on playing like he is.

Silky skills and great vision. Gives some of the most amazing short passes. But yeh. You can’t have him in the team for 11-12 games a year. Our 6 from 8 streak started without him. So it’s not like we can’t win without him. Even though he won us the last 2 games with his leadership.

12 months is a long time in the life of Foran as an NRL player. That's going off the actual facts from his time with us with his injuries. Even if he doesn't get injured game day him hobbling from the field after every match doesn't fill me with confidence that he will play the following week. Love the bloke in a Dogs jersey and wish nothing more than he was injury free and playing every week but considering a resign now seems premature.

I'd give him 450k with an extra 100k if he holds up for 15 games and another 50k if he makes 20 games. 2 year deal with the second in the clubs favour. Only issue then becomes if the incentives are counted to the cap then we could essentially be wasting that 150k if Foran does get injured which could've gone to someone else.

However it's been 6 years since he has played 20 games in a season and so even at a cut price he may not be worth it.

He’s been in the role 5 years and looks to have done an excellent job but more surprisingly is he only looked at the role after being knocked back for the top job at Woolworths???

Regardless, I think Kieran will be well looked after in later life so a pay cut may not affect him a great deal....

There wouldn't be many clubs wanting to sign him. He would be a risk and most coaches won't go near him because of his unreliability and with the tight salary caps clubs work on his only option would be to stay with a very much reduced contract.

Sign him on a year to year contract (max $250k) with incentives.

People people people...there are very few high quality haves in the NRL at present.
If a fit or even 60% fit Foran hits market he will get offers way above $450k & incentive payments.

The only options for the club will be offer him a new deal on good coin say $850k (and that’s probably below offers he will get if he stays on the field next seadon) or let him go.
