They aren’t really props though. It will be up to Pay to decide if he still wants another middle forward. I am surprised that Timm hasn’t received a call up for first grade yet. He could end up being a cheaper alternative to what we are using RFM & Elliott for right now. Doesn’t really matter right now as the club probably won’t sign him
Hopefully stimson plays lock takes elliots spot

But signs dwz? Chose us over other clubs , and chn,
Let's be serious though, DWZ came to us because the tigers couldn't offload players to afford him and he didn't want to go to Nth Qld.

CHN was offered a pretty decent deal money and length wise, too good to refuse. Up until a few months ago he's still saying he wanted to go back to Penrith one day.

When Pay signs a marquee I'll give him credit and he'll have the money to do that next year so we'll see what happens.

Parra wanted him also and met with them
Yup can’t sign marquee players with no money

To me he hasn't demonstrated enough to show he's a top level coach at NRL level.

As I've said before if he builds a team and he's not the man to lead us going forward all of a sudden you have rebuild 2.0 with more wasted years.
That's why first 10 games next season crucial for Pay....but...the club are in a sticky situation with the timing of sc, Pay, roster, recruitment. Hope for the best.

I would love for pay to prove me wrong, I really would.. if next year rolls around an we get a good start then I’m all for it. Although I still have my doubts as you are all aware, I want too see us get some good early wins and have him change my mind..!!
Agree... Maybe with some changes in roster that have happened and some fresh facces there is a belief that they can actually play good consistent football ( completion rates compared to 2 or so years ago) and are forming some partnerships.
Maybe the penny had to drop with the players.
I was praying for holbrook but am softening to pay based on how the players are turning up for each other.... And maybe for pay

Let’s be serious, if DWZ didn’t want to play under Pay he wouldn’t of come simple as that really.

And go where? He had already been released from Penrith.

No one else could fit him in, he didn't want to go to Qld.

Parramatta could, and wanted him too
Meet with them and everything but signed with us

My understanding is Parra wanted Waqa Blake ahead of him.

Anyway I'm stoked DWZ is with us whatever the circumstances.

I honestly think that its plausible to consider that Pay may actually become a good long term coach when you consider the state of affairs he has begun his transition to fg coaching in.
When Pay was offered his first contract to coach the Bulldogs he had a brand new board and CEO, a bunch of overpaid duds, way too many backended contracts, and was operating under a salary cap that turned out to be way less then the previous board had expected. These are the facts. But let's continue with the "unknowns" if you will.
After getting rid of all of the duds, and unfortunately having to let our best forward go because he was acting like a pussywipped little bitch, he then went to market to find some "cheapies" that he hoped he could mould into regular first graders. These players were relative unknowns so Pay had to have faith that they could get the job done.
Pay was also a rookie coach under immense pressure after the majority of fans had turned on Hasler. So with this in mind, and the fact he has had a very young squad at his disposal, with some overpaid backended deals, along with the pressure of expectations from us fans, it hasn't been an easy task thus far.
We are not out of the woods yet, but it does look as though he has managed to keep the players mind on the job, and keep them together as a tight knit group. Our results are starting to improve, and despite our lack of form he was able to attract players such as CHN, DWZ and Stinson who are quality players. So given this is the case, these players must be seeing a lot more then we have been able to see.
With a few more good signings, and hopefully a better start to the year next year, we could be well on our way to being able to properly utilise our war chest for 2021. And who knows, Pay might even mould us into a legitimate contender.....

Pay just doesn't have any pulling power...that is the real issue. He certainly has proven that he can get players to go out and play to their ability.
So I guess that means players like CHN, DWZ and Stinson must be crap?....

It's very easy to claim this is the case, but like myself, and every other poster on here, you dont know that this was the case. And personally I tend to disagree given the way DWZ has spoken about our club of late!!

From memory wasn't it a conversation he had with Gould that influenced his decision to come to us?

LOL it was all Phil Gould's advice that had DWZ packing for Belmore, not some coffee and wise words with DonkeyPay ..

Of course it's possible that he improves as time goes on, just a matter of opinion as to how much time is too much time. I think a key factor could be changes to the staff, for most of the time he has been here it has just been a mish mash of whoever was here and the odd guy Pay brought over. Maybe better specialised people in the right roles could make the difference.

Yes you're right, no one knows the true reason but love or hate Pay I doubt any player comes purely to be coached by him, he's no Bellamy or Bennett.

DWZ is an absolute gentleman, he's never badmouthed Penrith and had nothing but praise for everyone he's dealt with including other coaches he spoke to. As I said in another thread I hope he captains the club.

If we start next season like we have the last two then the wins we are having now mean absolutely nothing, I don’t think this will be the case as DWZ has changed the whole dynamic of the team in both d and attack,if he keeps leading the way the rest will follow and continue to improve.
It has little to do with pay’s coaching IMO
