How could meaney not score

Okunbor was killing it in 1st grade earlier this year, Meaney has had countless defensive errors and one intercept try and suddenly he deserves his spot and kicking duties, he is an absolute fraud and Pay Pet

Before i would have definielty said Okunbor 100%. Now, with Meaney making good runs and looking much more comfortable (he is also goalkicker), it becomes a much more difficult contest...

I don't see any of them being able to transition to centre...

Perhaps Okunbor on bench and use him as a forward/backline utility??

All you bagging Meaney is unwarranted if u were put in both those situations I'd highly doubt you would have done any better, never seen anyone on here state that they have actual emphatic proof that they could A play better than someone on the field or B coach. The guy is a great buy for us sure he may be small and weigh fuck all but we are known for that Hazem El Magic eh, not saying he is exactly Hazem their just pointing out we have had small wingers before. A specialist winger would have scored, do you have a time machine? Do u know how the players would have reacted? Could he have lost the ball? Could he still have been bundled out to touch? That was some great defense by souths in that instance no 100% guarantee he would have scored either way but you are all good bagging him even though his kicking won us the game. As for the 40/20 far better to have defense set rather than knock it bakc in Souths get it possibly and score.

Does it really matter if Meaney did make a mistake? It happens in footy. He will learn from them and we still won the game. The rest of his game was strong and the important thing is he is improving.

Agree with your post, but Meaney isn’t small he just hasn’t filled out yet.. He is still a kid and next year he will be the one monstering opposition. They will have him bulking and strength training in the offseason, then have him cut and ripped for the pre season games..
I remember when Lafai first came into grade he was small and was being thrown around.. A year or so later he was strong, it’s a shame we didn’t keep him actually but that’s footy..

People just caught up in the moment when things happen on the field. Meaney has two massive things in his favour he has genuine pace and great hands. In the last few weeks he’s really found his feet in defence and has shut down some very dangerous situations including the intercept against the Tigers. Last night was his best game in terms of running metres and they were tough meters too.
