I'm not going to bother posting the article, but in a nut shell,t hey want to rise the price of stamps from $1 to $1.10.

What a great business initiative... we're losing business so let's make things even more expensive :tonguewink::tonguewink::tonguewink:

FFS the last time they raised the price, the stamps went from $0.70 to $1 - a 30 cent increase. That was insane.

If they want to save money, why not reduce the service to 3 runs per week instead of 5?

Ayri fick.

Whaaaat, it's gonna cost me an extra 10c to post my used underwear to all those thirsty women out there...looks like I'll have to put my price up too.

On the flip-side, courier business is booming because of all the online shopping people do. If Australia Post wants to make more money, perhaps increasing their numbers in the courier business will work. I know they already have a big presence there, but in my opinion, that's where the money is these days in the postage/courier industry.

Reducing service is exactly the opposite of what they should be doing

Businesses should comply with demand, right? Well the demand for post these days is nowhere near what it was 15 years ago. Everyone is moving electronically - banks, health funds, federal government services (MyGov) Why should they pay if they've saving money in the process?.

AusPost should pick up their game in the courier business and reduce postage services to 3 days per weeks. Posties don't have to take the hit though, they can work courier services on non-postal days.

Bumping up fees in a dying business is not the answer. They are still making a profit, just not as much as they used-to - and you can't expect them too if the demand isn't as high.

Just my 2 cents.

Still pisses me off that a former CEO of Australia Post gave himself a mega bonus a few years back and wanted to up prices because they were in financial difficulties. Stamp prices are already high considering that we can send messages paper free and cost free. Newsflash, the price is already restricting the number of letters people send.

Selling stuff on eBay/gumtree is so fucked if it isn't something light and expensive.

Selling a toy for ten bux and shipping costs about the same. It's criminal.

Australia post and quantas both are majority owners of star track express to my understanding.

How stupid was raising the price? Great marketing. So they had a slowdown in postal business, so their idea to improve business is to make it less attractive to the public by being more expensive. I think some people are hoping for a redundancy payment lol

What will happen to them is eventually no one will buy stamps. Always been badly run with staff on high wages compared to most. Senior management on crazy salaries. If they want the business to flourish they should increase their clientele not Piss them off. What their doing is just adding the last nail to their coffin.

I just love human selfishness and greed.
Its the number one reason I disassociate with the human race and don't give a fuck about most things.

That's what the world is sadly tilted on. In the past it was about people working together... now it's about people working for themselves. I help people where I can... I find that the good deed is it's own reward.

There was internet and social media but back then social media was for socialising not a competition over who looks more down syndrome pulling duck faces!

Yeah true that. Don't get me wrong, Facebook has some great features such as phone and video calls instead of paying the Telco companies ridiculous fees, that Instagram seriously destroyed young ladies. I actually feel sorry for them. That's why I can't get enough of Asian women because they're more down to Earth.

Right @Raysie?

Latina's are gorgeous. They have killer curves to die for. It's just that lately I've been going through a petite phase... can't get enough of chicks that are really feminine... short... thin... softly (and politely) spoken... all those things added up are the perfect recipe for my Achilles heel.
