While unrealistic this is the sort of mentality you want your players to have.

This means no matter how small you're not giving up.

A far cry from Pay saying that it'll be 2021 before we compete for the title

Exactly my thoughts. Pay needs to change that mindset fast, even if he was just saying that in the public eye

if pay says that the team are trying to make the finals everyone would mock him

Great attitude and super positive even if it is delusional. DWZ has been our stand out best every game so I won't question his drive unlike the 16 others lining up beside him.

That's because Pay is a dick head who lacks vision and creativity. He has been benching and dropping the wrong guys all season and to make it worse for the most absurd reasons.

Would much rather a player say this then hear a coach saying we won't play finals next year. Imagine giving up before a ball is even kicked.

He’s a super player. I’ll never forget in a finals match at Allianz the Roosters were minor premiers and played Penrith who were 4th. DWZ scored a freakish try to propel them to victory. He is an elite player. Cleary will rue letting him go.

Wasn’t that the game when he actually didn’t score but miraculously retrieves the ball, flicking it back into play from a flying mid-air position Whare scores the try to leave up and Soward kicking a FG to win the game?

Must not have been listening to Pay the other day, ha. Hopefully he rubs off on the rest of the club.

He doesn't need to say we are trying to make the finals. There are better ways of saying it then straight up telling the world that your team isn't good enough.

What kind of message does it deliver that your coach is basically saying if you aren't doing well enough it's ok because we aren't expected to do much anyway. We didn't really have the cattle in 2014 to make it far and yet we did much better than we first thought we would. We probably had the worst back three to ever grace a Grand Final

While realistically we would need to win 6 of our last 5 games by margins to make the 8, you can't fault his never say die attitude. And if it gives them more to play for by thinking that I'm all for it.
