No walking into all star studded fucking line up of Blues, Queensland and Australian players was the best thing to happen to him at Manly. Not getting fired from here.

The article goes into the problem we had with Des. He lost the confidence of the players, his style was dictatorial and regressive, and he was addicted to technology.
This is the first time I've seen that acknowledged in the media. We've been saying it for years, but the MSM were not interested back then.

IMO Haslers issue is more about assembling a premiership winning team .. he made dud calls in recruitment & retention which saw us have a poor spine for many years and so the dud attack.. Mbye in the spine, Perrett Fullback, Keating and Hodko in the spine etc etc..

But in terms of 'coaching' he can get a team punching above their weight and playing consistently..

Hes the sort of coach you would have focused purely on coaching, and leave recruitment / retention to others that are capable..

Hasler wants instant results, the best example of this: he is playing Walker at five eighth and he will stifle Cust's development unless the board step in and don't re-sign walker.

Pay will give young guys a crack at their favoured position before putting forwards and centres in spine positions.

The problem is DIBSASTER gave him full control, he wasn't accountable for giving young guys game time. He wasn't accountable for his dud recruitment. Manly will be wise to take those decisions away from him.

He'll eventually grind this Manly team into the dirt, just give it time.

FUCK SAKE, Des winning percentage at Canterbury was 57% almost identical as at Manly 59%.

The wheels fell of the 2016 because of 6 shit ***** who kept dropping the ball and missing tackles and the club’s lack of depth was exposed at the back end of the season.

2017 we only scored 360 points because those useless ***** Mybe & Reynolds couldn’t organise shit. Yet somehow we won 10 games and lost 6 games by six points or less.

Anyone who says Des can’t coach is a fucken moron.

Oh and speaking of morons our club gifted Des $2 million for nothing.

The guy's is a great coach.

People can say he walked into a star studded team all they want, but the year prior they came 15th and this year they were up there with the favs for the spoon.

Des didn’t assemble this Manly squad. When you have DCE and the Turbo bros that helps. Chuck those players in our team and Pay could make the 8 easily.

Compare this to his first year at the dogs. Both squads assembled by different coaches (Barrett and Moore). After a year or two when he gets his type of players in Manly will slide.

Even his glory years he was lucky quality players like Watmough, Foran (in his prime), Stewart brothers, Matai all took massive pay cuts.

In summary des is still a ****

No doubt at all. The article contains some valid points, he really did need that year away and he did need to get back to the basics.

He’s got lucky in the sense of the playing rosters. He’s got aspects of his coaching which is unbelievably good. But also some aspects that are horrible. His roster management is terrible.
