Since when have we had any success with any ex Manly players/ coachs ..but hey keep talking it up to force Manly to pay more than they should for them..weakens their options for other players....if they adhere to the cap rules of course.

Yes the boys will move the wife and all the kids, when they come along, into mum and dads house too. Never, ever leaving :grinning:
Don't think the wife and kids thing will be happening for Tommy

Unfortunately these guys bleed the northern beaches more than any others and so does their family. They are helping out with local juniors and their parents volunteer in the canteen.

It would take a monumental stuff up for Manly to lose these guys. These guys are super humble with very little attitude. Not glory chasers and not the Manly of old.

Who would want to go play for a coach who has been doing it longer than Pay, who won spoons in 16 and 17, in a shithole like Newcastle? Klemmer, Pearce, Ponga, JWH would.
look how that's going for them. Maxed out the cap with a shit coach and blokes that only care about coin and looking like missing the top 8. I'd hardly call that a successful rebuild or a position you'd won't to be in

Knights were royally screwed by Tinkler and Wayne did a pretty average job too, much in the vain of Des. Both have gone on to greater things with established rosters.

Our rebuild will be similar to the Knights. In a couple years we will be in a similar position battling for the 8.

With the Roster Newcastle have they should be well and truly in the Top 8. Why are they not?

You are spot on. Our position is very similar to the knights. However we should be learning from Newcastle and making sure that better foundations are in place prior to this 8.5 mill becoming available. That is, get a decent coach in that can attract the best available players that a primarily driven by wanting success (secondarily money) without paying massive overs.

This is a forum and everyone is entitled to their opinions. Mine is we wont win anything with Dean Pay. I don't dislike the bloke i just don't think he has what it takes to be a successful NRL coach. This is opinion is formed by the very fact that no player has improved under him in nearly 2 seasons. I warrant he has not had the calibre of player to be competitive but no player is week in week out showing signs of improvement.

Simple , media hype. Newcastle are able to be sold as a club to go to or on the rise as they have their media mouthpiece spruiking for them and also in origin camps
You have Matty Johns constantly talking them up and his and joeys mates in media never hammer the club . Plus you have Joey and Buderus in the nsw origin camp talking up the club and probably recruiting too so it becomes a attractive joint

The telling thing from that article
2017 10 wins from 24
2018 8 wins from 24
2019 5 wins from 18
It tells us even with the players he has bought in the results are getting worse,Dean pay is not the man to take this club forward

fuck them its not guna happen. Go after radradra for nxt yr as a start, offer his family jobs at the leagues club to entice him.
Sign up Flannagan as coach watch him get aggressive in the player market and develop this squad.
I'd love Oates if we're going to get a Winger. He'd cost about 700k/year tho. Already turned down 600k offers last year to stay at the Broncos on 400k (probably just getting paid the difference on the side tho let's be real). Oates is a player we could have for 5+ years and can move into the Second Row later in his career. He'd help our forwards out a lot too.

Yeah the game is definitely changing. All the successful teams have a Fergo or an Oates to bring the early ball back strongly like big fast back rowers and the all have a sharp rake with good delivery, a kicking game and speed. A Radrada type winger and maybe a running style player who thinks he is a half like an Mbye turned into a 9 might be the go..

Wasn't Cooke originally a half back in his early days??

Maybe the club can apply to the NRL for special dispensation to allow us to buy them with either an increase in the cap or the NRL pay half the freight to keep the club afloat!

So he is saying we should ruin our cap again just to attract 2 top players while having an unbalanced roster.

We'd be better off keeping either Meaney of DWZ at FB. Use the cash on:

1. A replacement for Foran
2. dummy half
3. Centre
4. Tapau

Since losing Ennis we have lost all momentum through the forward area. Dummy half is top priority.
