Next to the head coach, who do you think is the most important person on a rugby league team?

If you answered the strength and conditioning coach, go to the head of the class.

After the head coach, the top three people in your program are the strength coach, the strength coach, and the strength coach.

Year round, not just before and during the season, strength and conditioning coaches become the athletes’ or teams’ mentors, motivators, and the single key reason that athletes and teams become faster, stronger, and tougher.

The results of great strength and conditioning coaches are seen around the world by millions of viewers.

Take a look at a poorly conditioned boxer or mixed martial artist who gasses out early.

Watch what happens when professional football teams’ offense or defense tires out.

Have you ever seen an 800-meter sprinter or swimmer gas out?

They lose…and the best-conditioned athlete and team wins.

A huge factor is because of superior conditioning.

In sports, speed, strength, flexibility, toughness, and endurance are the key elements to athletic success.

I’m not just talking about winning and losing.

Well-conditioned athletes are less prone to injuries that can be a life- and game-changer for a pro earning millions.

When a kid gets hurt, repeatedly pulls muscles, overuses a shoulder or throwing arm at a young age, his future becomes questionable.

When a pro gets hurt, he’s taken out of the game, sits on the bench, is put on the injured list and often moved to other clubs.

For everyone, fans included, there’s nothing more frustrating than to have a world-class athlete sitting on a bench with a season-ending injury.

The good news is that strength coaches help prevent injuries and athletes from gassing out too quickly, and unlike the head coach, they get to work with the athletes year round.

Great strength and conditioning coaches can help turn an average athlete into a superstar.

Today, professional and amateur athletes in all sports and at all levels, from club and pro teams to Olympic athletes, need the help of a ultimate personal trainer.

Each athlete is different and the events they participate in vary so much, great strength coaches are taught how to expand the capacity of their athletes to perform the most difficult feats, while remaining strong and free from injuries.

Every athletic endeavor places the human body and mind under maximum stress.

Proper training and preparation gives athletes the physical and mental confidence to push themselves to their limits and beyond, knowing inside, they’re in the best shape possible.

I do not know who our strength and conditioning coach is, but i do know that they are absolutely terrible.

I ain't going to get into the "Pay debate", but mark my words, if this club does not change its roster and regime around the strength and conditioning, we will be falling behind further every year.

I disagree I think the strength and conditioning coach is more important than the coach.

Agree a complete overall is needed. If we don't have the most talented squad. Which we don't. Why not be the fittest and strongest team in the league. Fitness and conditioning is going to win those 50/50 games .

We have lacked strength fitness and toughness since the early 2000's.. That's what made us the dogs of wars ,fit, conditioned, mean defensive machines. Theres no reason why we can't win more games purely by being fit.

The 1998 side is a perfect example of what being fitter then everyone else can do for you. That team had some good players but no stars but Billy Johnstone flogged them into shape. The confidence in knowing you’re fitter then the opposition cannot be understated.

Our guys aren't modern prototype footballers and they aren't elite athletes either. That's as much an issue as strength and conditioning.

There will be changes with the coaching around our strength and conditioning next year

That's one of the reasons Hill went to the UK recently

As mentioned, It was ONE OF THE REASONS he went to the UK. So there are obviously other reasons and meetings which were done.

Couldn't get more to the point than what i have.

I stumbled across this topic in regards to strength and conditioning, and as mentioned, one of Hills visits in the UK was based around S&C.
