Instagram 'influencer' breaks down

As you head off to the salt mines this morning, spare a kind thought for the sad professional selfie-taker whose career was just dealt a crushing blow.

Self-professed social media "influencer" Mikaela Testa has broken down on camera, claiming she's "suffering" as a result of Instagram's decision to remove likes from users' profiles.

The Melbourne Instagram user, who has less than 50,000 followers on her two accounts, took herself off the site for just one day in protest after the platform announced it would be removing likes in a bid to improve mental health.
“If you think this is okay you can f**k off, it’s actually a sad day for those who have instagram as a job,” she wrote to her nearly 10000 followers on Facebook. “Regardless of what you may think instagram is a REAL job and those in the industry have worked hard to get where they’re at. It’s people that aren’t even in the industry that think it’s a f**king joke. It’s not, it’s real damage out here.”

She added: “I’ve put my blood sweat and tears into this for it to be ripped away, it’s not just me suffering too, it’s every brand and business I know. Instagram isn’t even doing this for mental health they’re just doing it so they can control all engagement so more businesses run their adverts through instagram essentially giving them more $, they don’t care about your feelings.”

Testa also shared a video to Instagram crying as she vowed she would “have a really big break from social media for a while because it is really just … I know mentally Instagram for me is a problem and I can’t even accept that so I am just going to leave for maybe a couple of weeks so I can get back on track".

Just one day later, she was back with a photo of herself in a short red skirt, saying "ok break is over".

She later claimed the tears had nothing to do with Instagram's new rules. “I have the ugliest crying face, say what you want this is raw content, that’s what this account is for, leaving social media for the first time ever,” she wrote on the original post, before adding: “since there are a few rude people misinterpreting this video, this has nothing to do with insta removing likes that is the dumbest thing I’ve heard, this has everything to do with the disgusting hurtful comments and messages I’ve received over the past week and I just need a break.”
Got a head like a smashed crab.

Still, I'd give her 11 minutes of my time ( including shower and run time )

Funniest thing is she's bragged about how much money she made...

I bet the ATO are now looking into her :D
I remember reading a article talking about how these women who sell their nudes and do camming shows while making ridiculous amounts of money need to be taxed. They are exploiting the system.

5 minute shower
5 minutes dress/undress/shoes on/do the bolt
1 min 30 foreplay
30 seconds of action?
Honestly... I reckon I'm the only one who enjoys foreplay just that much more. Is there anything better than feeling the salami wake up?

You sort of have to wonder how long they thought it would last. From Instagrams perspective you have all these people making money from their platform without them getting any piece of the pie. As soon as people starting monetising posts the writing was well and truly on the wall for the free ride.

That's right. YouTube at least makes money when videos are monetised. Because IG can't be monotised as such, companies contact those people directly via DM to wear/promote their products and get them to promote these products in their posts.

I actually question what Instagram are getting out of this though. They are a company worth $1.6 billion, and are backed by the $50+ billion Facebook empire. Are they really getting anything out of this change?

Totally agree, there is a bean counter out there who has come up with a plan to make them more money. I think you might be on to something with the YouTube analogy, they have to agree to have X amount of Ads on their feeds and Insta get the money from that. i.e If you want an ad on Kendall Jenner Insta it will cost you $150,000, Kendall still has the ability to flog stuff but can't stop these paid ads appearing amongst her posts.

Yeah that's the thing. I'm not actually sure how Instagram generate money though as they have their services for free, ad-free. Facebook owns Instagram which probably explains how they have been able to survive so-far, however how is it that they actually make money when they don't haven any ads on their service? I know that Facebook used to have ads back in the days and probably still do. Instagram though... I have no idea where they get their cash from.

British woman Madalyn Davis dies in Sydney cliff fall

A British woman has died falling from a cliff in Australia.

Madalyn Davis, 21, was fatally injured at Diamond Bay, Sydney, on Sunday. Emergency crews were alerted by a group of people who could not find her after taking photos there.

Signs warn tourists to stay away from the cliff edge and the local mayor said the height of fences in the area had been increased.

Ms Davis, from Lincoln, had been in Australia for a number of weeks.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 06:30 local time, following reports she had fallen off the cliff, in the eastern suburbs of the city.

Her body was retrieved from the water about four hours later.

In a tweet posted on Saturday night, Marine Rescue New South Wales said: "Emergency services were alerted after a group of people taking photos inside the fence early this morning regathered and could not find the woman."

Another woman died in a 30m (98ft) fall on to rocks at nearby Vaucluse Reserve in August last year, according to Australian press.

Warning signs posted by the local authority, Waverley Council, urge people to stay away from the cliff edge.

Speaking to Reuters news agency, mayor of Waverley Paula Masselos said: "We're actually working closely with the police on this at the moment.

"We've already increased the height of our fences, we've added additional multilingual signage."

In a statement, the FCO said: "Staff at the British Consulate in Sydney are in contact with local authorities following the death of a British woman."

According to her social media channels on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, Ms Davis was a beautician specialising in eyelashes and had been travelling in Thailand and Bali before heading out to Australia.

She had been posting photos online of her work and travels.

Heather Widdup, principal of Retford Oaks Academy where Ms Davis was a former pupil, said: "Madalyn was a much-liked, popular and well-respected member of the academy community, with many of our staff team recalling her time at Retford Oaks fondly.

"Madalyn joined the academy in the latter stages of her secondary education, had a keen interest in and an obvious talent for art and design, and had done well in her GCSEs.

"Our deepest condolences go out to Madalyn's family and friends at this very difficult time."

Over 250 selfie deaths since 2011 most of them Indians which won't do much to thin the heard, but sad because most of them are probably related to Indiandog.

She could only influence people not to get plastic surgery.

I laugh at people who are influenced by this chick.
