Number 1 and 2 relate to his time at Wests tigers. 3 onwards are accurate.

We also offered him a contract which was way too generous based on his past history, it's probably lucky he ended up moving on
No, 1 & 2 are definitely relevant to us also.

Shows the difference in the two coaches. Des works with his players and improves them, Pay makes them worse

Hasler was f*cked towards the end of his tenure here, however the transition from 2011 to 2012 was astounding and he turned Barba a hit and miss x-factor into the Dally M medalist the following year.

The problem with Des like everyone else is if you hand one person too much power they'll f*ck it up. He should never have dictated terms regarding player contracts and the team that should've been given shouldn't have been entirely under his say so

Let’s see;-
For starters,
He’s got a gun fullback Trbojevic
A more than decent Halfback DCE
One of the best young hookers Fainu
3 powerful middle forwards Tapau, AFB & J Trbojevic.
Big ball playing edge forwards in Sironen,/Thompson
We have none of the above
Exactly
Manly have a more than decent roster. Not surprised they’re 5th

He might have improved a fraction, but he's still fat, unfit, lazy and error prone.

The guy has no self control he needs to be monitored by has-lice to stop eating crap and let his weight balloon out.

One more slip up and he's goonnnee

We had shit ***** play there year in year out
Which he picked? The brand of football he had us playing in his final years was hard to watch

It was very hard to watch..

I don’t think he picked those halfbacks

Keating and hodkinson were here before him I’m sure
We couldn’t ever land that rockstar fullback.

He has massive issues with recruiting didn’t seem to get anyone over

I think with the right squad he can win you a competition

He was focused on developing Mbye and landing Foran and the club suffered from it. Watch how he struggles to build on this Manly squad too. If the stars don’t fall in his lap then good luck if you are relying on him to recruit them

Pretty much summed up perfect lol

Des has a team full of rep players and internationals.

Trent Barrett and his team actually built this roster out. Wait a year or 2 before Des back ends a few deals, they'll pay overs to keep Turbo and Jurbo and end up losing key men.

I disagree with that.

At the time he managed to recruit Tony Williams who was the in form forward of the league. That however had a ripple effect. Caused us to lose quality forwards such as Dale and Taupau. Then the whole Barba BS... Des opted to recruit an old BMoz.

I don't think Des had an issue bringing players over. He probably brought over the wrong players and didn't do enough to keep talent at Bulldogs.

Would have been much better to build around Jackson, Dale and Taupau. We would have had those 3 in our forwards running around atm.

Yes tony Williams was the only big name at his peak.

B Morris was on the way down and I think josh got him over not Desmond.

But what I am saying is we didnt need to bring any big names in. The team we had in 2012 was full of juniors and young guys that came through our system - Jackson, Finucane, Barba, Reynolds, Kasiano, Pritchard, Taupau.

Haslers coaching style with us had a shelf life and we went past that by a couple of years...

his theory to win by high percentage, low expansion footy, was dumb.. but he persisted because he wanted to prove he was right (stubborn Mo Fo)

I have no doubt he would of made some adjustments now that hes back a Manly.

You always need to bring guys in mate you can’t just rely on juniors

Which junior was going to lead this team around the park and win us a comp?

We need good juniors but every couple of years you need good signings also

Disagree. We didn't need to bring in anyone mate. We had SOO halves. Best forward pack in the comp and a solid backline.
