the same line every **** said about Des was the problem and Dean was the answer now it s Pay is the problem Holbrook is the answer till the end of next year ... People wont wake up and understand the cattle is more of the problem
Difference is Holbrook has the experience and pedigree to being a FG coach. Pay never did.

After Des, myself included, would have welcomed my mum as coach...

And we'd all love Des the coach here now wouldn't we. Even if it was until when he was sacked and 2021. It baffles me how anyone thought Pay, a rookie coach, could do a better job then Des not only with the same roster, but a roster that has lost almost all of its best players without replacements..

Someone should edit Holbrooks Wikipedia page to say he’s signed with the Dogs for 10 years to keep you boneheads appeased for a little while

It’s quite amusing how Holbrook has become this forum’s saviour. How sad and utterly deluded people are.

My only problems with Des was his recruiting was crap, too loyal to players who didn’t deserve it and played a boring style once barba left.

And completely neglected out juniors. He is a 1st coach only but not a development coach.

I may be wrong but from afar it looks to me like many of our players have upside, simply because they show ability although not consistently enough in some of things they do on the field. Players like Ogden, To-Omanga, Okundour, Cogger, Lewis, Meany if he was properly coached and perhaps even Montoya, I can't see much upside in Elliot unfortunately, even though he is one player who plays his heart out for the club.

Absolutely agree. Everybody keeps going on about how the players aren't up to first grade standard but that's just an excuse. I'm not saying we are top 8 material but we definitely shouldn't be on the bottom of the ladder. Yes there is alot of upside to all those players you mentioned and I'm sure a better coach would have improved those players to the point that we aren't on the bottom of the ladder. Elliot for example is all heart and determination but lacks the skill set to be overly effective but if he was in the Melbourne system coached by Bellamy he would be properly coached and be a much improved player and would be playing his part in the team, no doubt, like all those no name forwards do that Bellamy gets hold of. Our main problem is the coach and lack of coaching and developing these players. Of course we need an injection of better quality players to become a force again but these players could of and should have improved and developed alot more than they have over the past 2 years and we should be just outside the top 8, not on the bottom

We're going to be tipped for the wooden spoon, or at least close to it, next year too. Unless Holbrook as a miracle season he's going to be given the same treatment as Pay. Anyone who has our squad before 2021 isn't going to have any success.

No... just no.

2021 isn't a magical year where suddenly everyone springs to life and starts winning games and we go on undefeated. 2021 will be more of the same shit unless we use 2020 as a year our new coach tweaks, tinkers, and gets the best out of our roster.

Pay is not getting the best out of this roster, because he is incapable of getting the best out of his players, and incapable of structuring play to our players best attributes. Heck the idiot can't even pick a team list correctly. He's clueless and he needs to go. Not in 2021, not in 2020, BEFORE seasons end.

If we put up with Pay for another year, not only will 2021 also be a write off, but we'll have wasted more money on stupid recruitment requests by a coach who doesn't have a clue.

Pay needs to go this year, so that the off season and pre season in 2020 is spent with the new coach getting to know the players and working with them.

I'm not guaranteeing success in 2021. Just I don't have any competitive hopes until then. Everything points to us being in a better situation then with our salary cap and talent (we currently don't have 1 game winner in our team). I just don't want a situation where the difference between Pay and Holbrook isn't much different and then he get sacked within 1-2 years (I do think it'll be easier with a roster haul tho, so it's pretty unlikely, just I think this team isn't a fair reflection of Pay's ability either). I think we're really over rating the guy too. I also doubt Pay has the last say in recruitment. Also just to make it clear I do want Pay gone, but for a top coach, e.g. Flanagan.

Sadly for Pay he hasn't been given the cheque book to build his squad. In saying that if he was, I'd have little faith in him building a quality squad for 2021

Pay has to be judged by the benchmarks he himself set. He said he would put the bite back into the Bulldogs and once again teams would fear having to face them. And did he meet his performance standard? Mate all the teams are licking their chops in anticipation of two points and the dogs are simply being outmuscled in every game. FAIL
We recruited a specialist young fullback in Meaney who was going pretty well. So Pay went out and promised another guy the position. Maybe he is better than Meaney but so what. We desperately needed a centre and a hooker and not another fullback. Pay then plays Meaney out of position on the wing and destroys the bloke. We have half the squad made up of second rate second rowers and desperately need a big intimidating prop, a hooker and a centre who knows how to create a break. So Pay recruits another second rower.. Maybe the guy is good and maybe not but it’s not what we need. Meantime what we need remains a blank space. FAIL
By his own performance benchmarks, Pay has FAILED.
Bring on Holbrook.

Holbrook is lightyears better than Pay. He's served as assistant coaches to several clubs, he's got 3 back to back Bulldogs Canterbury Cup Premierships under his belt, and he's got St Helens absolutely firing. Proven credentials.

Any coach we get in NOW means by 2021 with money at their disposal could make our side a real threat.

If we piss about with Pay in 2020, and without another coach, then 2021 will be another wasted year with a new coach.

I'm confident with a change of coach this current side would look completely different. Pay just lacks the skillset required to be a good coach.

So what's the solution? Sit on our hands and cop loss after loss after loss as fans, until the board finally pull their fingers out and sack the useless prick?
I agree we need a new coach...but why Holbrook...why not Griffin or Kevin Walters? Because they don't have the bulldog DNA?

September 1st can't come soon enough.. at least we will know then which coach we will have and if we buy memberships for 2020 because according to Pay it's near pointless.. what an idiot.
