Difference between the 2008 team and 2019 is that the 2008 team had a mix of ageing great players mixed in with some real fringe first graders. On the flip side, the 2019 team is a mix of 3-4 first graders and complete busts

SBW tore the heart out of that 2008 side when he did the runner. With him 2008 is better.
Even though he was such a great player and helped our 2004 win the comp, I still hate the C**t for abandoning our team, his teammates and us supporters and then he had the hide to come back and play for the rorters, I reckon if he had stayed a doggie he would have ended up eventually being an immortal.

Without doubt the 2008 team was worst. Our defence became progressively worst and their were some seriously attitude problems. Added to that was team instability, with some high profile players leaving we blooded some good talent however but as a team we were uncompetitive and at times a basket case

"non-competitive and at times a basket case" sounds like the 2018 and 2019 team LOL

The General also missed the majority of 08 with a bad back from memory as well which didn’t help.

Bro our 2008 could score points, they just couldn’t defend for shit,
From memory I remember we got toweled up in a game that year against the raiders I think the score was something like 54-36

My guess would be the 2008 side mainly because they at least have a go and tried hard. The effort was there but maybe not the skill across the field. But this 2019 side looks like they don't want to be there. 2019 team is lucky to score 12 points per game.

Who was the kid who single handedly beat the broncos, then went off the rails at several other clubs

He debuted the week after SBW left from memory. A few weeks before Folkesy called people on the Kennel niff nuffs for wanting him selected haha.
and we got fucked up when we had to go to barba

2008 was killed off when patten, utai and tonga went down injured then sonny bill left, but it was always meant to be a gap year until 2009 and they even frontloaded some contracts

credit to noad for knowing when to let go

Chris Armit and the tooth stuck in his forehead was a classic.

2008 - decent coach, mediocre players
2018 - shit coach, talented players (more than 2008 anyway)

Folkes (may he rest in peace) would do better with this lot than Pay.

Side back then was much worse. Felt sorry for Folkes that he got the sack after that season.

EDIT: In saying that they had a lot of heart back then. Although we had cricket score put on us at the end there, we still were able to score some points.
FFS. I have to correct this continually. He just wasn't offered a new contract. You can argue it is semantics, but not when a coach has a good long run, and there is a general mood about the place that it was time for a change. No one was really up in arms about Folkes being moved on. Results had started to fade

On paper 2019 team has a much better forward pack with 2 ex kiwi reps, 1 origin payer and 1 ex origin player

That 2008 team was the first time I ever saw a Bulldogs team just not put in. Those last few games of the year were so bad.
