Latrell = not worth it IMO (not yet anyway)What happens if they all say yes? We have no money for anyone else.

Well if we got Tom and Jake that would be ~25% of our top 17 salary cap (assuming 18-30 is on minimal wage ~100k), very doable as the other 15 players would need to be on an average of ~400k. You're allowed to have average (experience hopefully)/young players in a squad with a marquee player (assuming he's a game winner and performs). What happens if they all say yes? Firstly, there's 30 players plus up to 5 "development" players and the minimum is $105k. The cap at $9.6m over 30 players is $340k average.Well if we got Tom and Jake that would be ~25% of our top 17 salary cap (assuming 18-30 is on minimal wage ~100k), very doable as the other 15 players would need to be on an average of ~400k. Well if we resign Foran it'll be ~500k. I don't think we'll sign Mitchell + Tom. If we sign Mitchell on that money it would be to play fullback. Also the salary cap is 8.3 if you pay 18-30 100k which is ~400k (that's including the Trbo brothers) at least average for the other 15 players... even with your "development" players.Firstly, there's 30 players plus up to 5 "development" players and the minimum is $105k. We absolutely need a hooker (say $750k) and a 1/2 (at least $1m) and a 5/8 (another $1m, be it Foran or someone else), that's what I meant by all. Together with Mitchell and Trbojevics x 2, that's ~$6m, leaving ~$3.6m for 24 players, or $150k average each. But its worse than that as not everyone's contract finishes in 2020.

But Tedesco signed for big bucks at the Roosters. Cronk also signed on for big bucks. Latrell is apparently getting 450k (which is still decent bucks). Oh wait. They also have Cordner, JWH and a whole squad that demands big bucks with still room to wiggle in the cap. There is no such thing as maths at the roosters.Firstly, there's 30 players plus up to 5 "development" players and the minimum is $105k. The cap at $9.6m over 30 players is $340k average.

Easy assumption to make when the forwards completely dominated qld ..Look at the difference high involvement outside backs can make to a side, we saw this clearly last night during SOO. Latrell is simply not the right player to build around, huge mistake if the club makes this offer.
i actually played junior footy with him for a few years at mona vale, was always a freakTommy T is a footballer. Probably one of the purest I have seen in a long long time.
Craves the ball, and will go looking for it. Quick, gets amongst it.
Would throw a million at him and his brother without hesitation.
The Salary Cap itself is very simple, we have $9.6m to cover 30 players, minimum is $105k, average is $340k.In fact, the salary cap is not as simple as you are making it sound
yes, but average is really almost 500k because 18-30 are on minimal wage (8.3/17), safe to say 400k with a little extra given out and bad signings, etc.The Salary Cap itself is very simple, we have $9.6m to cover 30 players, minimum is $105k, average is $340k.
How each club administers it is complex, especially when we had hugely back ended contracts, that meant we had a $9.6m team in 2017 that was (unchanged) a $13m team in 2018.

Common sense would agree, and I agree with you.You do not build a squad around a centre and a million dollar one at that.
It was obvious to see last night in the Origin what a good and experience halve does and brings to a team - James Maloney
All previous NRL premiership winners had a complete spine
18' - Tedesco, Keary, Cronk, Friend
17' - Slater, Munster, Cronk, Smith
16' - Barba, Maloney, Townsend, Ennis
15' - Coote, Morgan, Thurston, Granville
And so on, and so on and so on.
Interesting Facts;
2013 - Roosters recruited Maloney to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year
2015 - Cowboys recruited Jake Granville to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year
2016 - Cronulla recruited James Maloney to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year
2018 - Roosters recruited James Tedesco and Cooper Cronk to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year
If people cannot see and realise you are no hope without a complete spine to have a crack at the premiership, than these people just cannot be helped!
Bellamy got rid of Inglis because he knew his spine was more important than a centre.
Latrell definitely is a good player, but he aint worth the contract Canterbury is "supposedly" throwing at him.
We are NOWHERE NEAR close at having a crack at the 8, let alone 4 with Meaney, Cogger, Lewis, Foran, Lichaa and JMK.
He is an outstanding player as is Jake. Would love to have these two at our club for sure.Tommy T is a footballer. Probably one of the purest I have seen in a long long time.

But they also had Michael Jennings in his prime at centre.Interesting Facts;
2013 - Roosters recruited Maloney to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year.
But they also had Taumalolo at lock and O'Neil at centre.2015 - Cowboys recruited Jake Granville to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year
But they also had Bird at centre and the killer wide playing 2nd row of Lewis and Graham.2016 - Cronulla recruited James Maloney to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year
They had Mitchell and Manu as centres.2018 - Roosters recruited James Tedesco and Cooper Cronk to complete their spine and they took out the premiership the same year
And they have only won one premiership since, proof that even they need a decent centre/wide playing 2nd row to complete the puzzle.Bellamy got rid of Inglis because he knew his spine was more important than a centre.
Mitchell if recruited serves 2 purposes, firstly he is recognised as the best centre going around, which means he also will attract other players who want to play with him. It would also demonstrate that we are serious with our recruiting, which in itself will also attract higher calibre players who want the chance to win a premiership.definitely is a good player, but he aint worth the contract Canterbury is "supposedly" throwing at him.
I don't think anyone will argue that decent spine is required, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest that a decent centre / wide running back row is also a prerequisite. If people cannot see and realise you are no hope without a complete spine to have a crack at the premiership, than these people just cannot be helped!
Common sense would agree, and I agree with you.
Though, with limited spine players available what and who would you recruite?
This is the real question. If Manly already have the T bros, DCE, Taupau and Co why arent they winning the comp as they are ticking all the right boxes according to some.Turbo brothers - Very unlikely they will leave Manly, BUT i would throw an unbelievable offer and make sure every Tom, Dick n Harry in Australia is aware of the offer Canterbury has thrown there way. $2.2m for both brothers. $1.3m-$1.4m for Tom and 800k-900k for Jake, and offer one of the boys the Captaincy.
Halves - This is an extremely difficult one as there is not much on offer at all. We are fucked
