I always imagine an anthem being sung by 100000 people in a stadium. And this song wins hands down.Haha to me this song just perfectly hits the spot. Always gives me goosebumps and makes me feel proud to be Australian.

That’s all fair commentsIt’s outdated and stems from pommy origins. Who the hell uses the words ‘toil’ and ‘girt’ anymore??
It’s not offensive, just dated.Ok,
Can someone please explain to me exactly what the problem is with the song?
Below are the lyrics for those who don’t know them
With the indigenous wanting it changed and refusing to sing it, I’d like to know why?
What is so offensive?
Can anyone please explain
Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty, rich and rare
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair,
In joyful strains then let us sing
"Advance Australia fair!"
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross,
We'll toil with hearts and hands,
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands,
For those who've across the seas
We've boundless plains to share,
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australia fair,
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia fair!"
In the world we live in today that would be a big NO. People are finding more and more things to "complain" about or be "offended" by.I would be curious to hear why some Indigenous people want it changed as well. I have never really heard any good reasons, just that it allegedly does not represent them. I must add as well that it seems to be a minority of Indigenous who feel this way as well.
I don't care either way though, I couldn't care less what our anthem is. I do wonder though if you could ever make everyone happy.
