Much has been said about our salary cap problems. Weve also used about 25 players so far this year. Some players are off contract at years end and may not be renewed.

But the majority of this present squad WILL be there next year.
A fellow dogs fan mate said to me today....looking at the way we play, whats going to be so different next season? We are running last. Weve been smashed in 4 games this season and competed in the rest, with 3 wins to show for our effort.

The highlight of the season was our win over the Tigers followed by a loss despite being the best team on the field performance the next week against Storm. Why have we since gone backwards after the Storm effort in Melbourne.? Who in the squad is doing their job and who isnt? Why have we changed that competitive gameplan?

Although Andrew Hill says we have 1 more year left of salary cap issues I dont buy that. The reason is this. Who exactly do we hope to buy for the 2021 season? Who do we think will come to us from 2021 that will turn this current malaise all around? Who is going to make all the difference to our playing style, intensity, skill level? Are we about to purchase a franchise making player? The vast majority of this present squad will still be there. Can we honestly see them playing any different to the way they play now?

As seen with Seibol, Cleary and Maguire a new coach could work or it may not.

So given all of this, what should we wish for this next Christmas, that's going to make all the difference to our competitiveness going forward?

Complete overhaul, specialist signings in all the key positions, a new coach, dedicated players that train hard..developed game plans (smart football) plodders gone.
and most of all To make us proud every game, win or lose (more wins) and be as competitive as all the top 8 teams...!!!

I know it’s a lot to ask,but the question was put forward, and at Xmas you can have as big wish list as you may. And it’s our team after all, and we WANT success.

Thank you :innocent:

I've accepted we're not going to be competitive (top 8) until 2021. I'd just like to see 2-3 quality players brought in - centre, hooker and maybe winger.

It would be more helpful to wish we were getting our fair share of 50/50 calls from the refs. I dare say we'd have more wins on the board and potentially be in touch with the top 8 if calls had gone our way.

The day we sign Flanagan is the day we lose alot of members and the board gets outed. He is NOT an option and would fail every due diligence check the club runs.

New coach: Anthony Griffin alongside Pay.
Halves coach: Andrew Johns.

A good question would be who have we lost since the Melbourne game.

Can take Latrell off any wishlist (like we had a shot anyway) apparently has extended 2 years at 800k with the cocks. Surely that price tags is a pisstake when he could demand 1mil anywhere else

What I want for Christmas is to fans understand the predicament and fucking cop it on the chin. Yes we’re in a shit spot. Yes it’s fucking rubbish watching them each week. Yes we have a fucked coach. Yes we have a fucked roster. It’s going to be a shit year this year and next. Lower your expectations.

Supporters jumping on social media blaming players blaming coaches. Guess what. Pay was the only **** willing to coach the club. We tried to get an established coach. Michael Maguire had a look at our books and said thanks but no thanks. We were in a fucked position and Pay still took the job on. Kudos to him.

I know it’s different cultures and we expect success. But look at how Newcastle handled there rebuild. There fans still turned up week in week out and supported the club. They knew there was short term pain for long term gain. They stuck solid and now there top 4.

Stop bagging the club and fucking support them.

800k for Latrell when Hunt and Foran are on 1.2 million? I'm sure the NRL will sign off on that without raising a eyebrow. Isn't it funny how players always take a third less than their market value to sign or stay at the Roosters...

Fuck xmas, thats why where we are is where we belong atm, id let kevin walters see the origin period out then sign him up. Give him the last two months to build on 2019 and get him to attract some decent players. Which management shoild have done when hasler left. Fuck loyalty, didnt stop dean going to parra. I like the guy, but rather see my team competive each week, with optimism. Who looks forward to watching the game or even going anymore?

New coach: Anthony Griffin alongside Pay.
Griffin, sacked, not just once but twice, both times at great financial cost to the clubs involved and according to Gould "is very old school, he likes to do everything himself. I think in the modern day age the head coach has got to rely on the expertise, knowledge and assistance". It would seem that working alongside anyone wouldn't work. Is he really what we want for our club?

Release of more useless players, and signing a decent hooker. We know that there is no decent halfback coming up, so work with what we've got. Perhaps a fast centre too.
