electric car will replace combustion engine vehicles, if they havent already.

Europe is banning combustion engine vehicle by 2040.

Electric cars are 10 times cheaper to run and maintain in comparison to petrol/diesel cars in the entire life of the vehicle.

Zero emissions just makes it even better.
The Europe thing is why they started doing the research and they admitted that they will be better to run when the Grid runs on renewables. The main problem is battery production. It's expensive, requires a lot of CO2 in production, requires Cadium, Lithium and Cobalt, and they only last 10 years.

Electric Vehicles are definitely the future though. They're just not as viable as we would hope right now.

Lithium and Graphite is 80% of the battery material.

Most of Europe runs on hydro or Nuclear. = zero CO2 or other emissions.

Battery lasting 10 years is more than good enough, no one uses their cars for more than 10 years.

a woman in Australia drove her Tesla Sedan around the country doing 22,500 kms for $150 worth of charge.

$22,500 km would cost around $4,000 in petrol at current prices.

Electric cars last you 1 million kilometers unlike ICE vehicles which last around 300,000 kms.

you can end up saving $80,000 just on the fuel over the life of the vehicle.

PLus you save up on no servicing as it doesnt take engine oil , transmission oil, etc etc

Europe isn't there yet. It's not far off but it's not quite there. Also, hydro isn't usually used for energy production. It's mainly used for energy storage. But they have a decent array of renewables.

Australia on the other hand is well behind.

The problem with electric vehicles right now is the amount of CO2 released during production and the fact that they are recharged off the energy grid which is powered by coal. Europe counters a lot of this with their current energy supply but research has shown that they still produce more CO2 over the lifespan in certain countries.

Australia is a long way off making electric cars viable. The research has suggested Hydrogen as an alternative until we get a renewable or nuclear grid up and running. But there is the obvious risks with hydrogen.

not sure if you have been to europe or japan or China recently.

All the cabs in Korea are Electric.

volkswagons new electric hatch back recieved 10,000 orders in the first 24 hours of the release.

The cost of owning electric car is reducing dramatically. Forget the environment factor the cost saving on the fuel and maintenance of the vehicle is huge in comparison to ICE vehicles.

Even the Tesla base model at the current price of $100,000 is cheaper to run and maintain than a KIA Rio over the life of the vehicle.

Peoples fears of hydrogen are as unfounded as their fears of nuclear.
Both can be engineered to be exploited safely.
