Hey guys, didn't know if there is another thread I could've asked this in and if there is then mods can you move it please!

Been thinking about going on a cruise next January, maybe 10 nights or so, never been on an overnight cruise let alone a 10 day long one and need as many review's and thoughts as possible. If any one has been on a week+ cruise and wouldn't mind sharing their experience below, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm good to make my own fun and I don't need much to just kick back and relax but am worried a cruise can get boring if your on the same boat everyday for 10 days, whilst the cruise I am looking at does stop at 4 islands, the majority of the time will be spent on ship. Would you guys recommend???

You can’t go wrong on a cruise mate, it’s better than packing and unpacking your suitcase everyday at a hotel to travel on a bus. You go on an island hoper so everyday you wake up at a new island and can explore it with the cruise travelling to this island overnight while you sleep. You can’t go wrong.

The best part of any cruise is the time on the ship. The places you visit are very ordinary. I went to Fiji
and preferred to stay on the ship.

I've only ever heard bad things about the major cruise ships. The private operators doing UK river cruises is one thing, but the large cruise liners... no thanks.

Floating RSL clubs where people spend more time drinking than out exploring.

Then theres the unsanitary conditions (which is why giardia, gastro, flu, and many other bugs are prevalent on them).

Also many ships berth in the really average areas of countries (near docks/wharfs), giving you little time to truly explore the places that make those countries special.

Better to head on a plane somewhere like Fiji, Lord Howe Island, Whitsundays, or FNQ and live it up.

I’ve done one. 13 nights. Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
I liked it but I got sick every day. (Not good with motion)
Also found something out on that cruise, the longer the cruise the older the patrons. If you’re hoping for some eye candy, best keep it under 6 days.

Have you actually ever been on a cruise ship...

I never rated cruises until I actually went on one. Been on a few to the pacific islands, did one from New York to the Bahamas. Cruises are awesome

No, but I know several people who have, and a family member worked on one for many years (albeit some time back).

Nonovirus outbreaks are pretty common place.

The only boats I've been on apart from ferries/island transfer boats are a few multi million dollar superyachts.

Because some people have it before the cruise, they cough/sneeze etc & touch handrails etc & then people touch the handrails & catch it & spread it by coughing/sneezing etc & they touch handrails.

It goes through the aircon as well.

Aged care homes have regular outbreaks as well.

Tbh I've heard people either love or hate them, no middle ground. The unsanitary conditions were a worry at the start because I've heard some fucked up stories regarding it but I mean I'll never know unless I try.

The one im looking at goes through Vanuatu and then to New Caledonia too, I've been told to keep it end of December or first half of January if I want a "younger crowd", definitely after some eye candy though ahaha.

Just be careful I was almost kicked off twice they drop you at the nearest port or have someone pick you up. I spent a lot of my time at night in the casino playing poker during the day I was either in the spa or on one of the islands they stop off at. I think travelling to and from the island stops at 3am for me (I tried going at 2am they wouldn't let me go greatful they didn't) so if your not back you are stuck till the morning some people would rent a room on island and be back in the morning is your choice. Currency was different was US dollars for me so maybe check that unless you are taking a card also try and find a cruise with open bar you will save a lot as well. Is alot of fun if you are partying on just relaxing.

Most cruise lines offer day trips. Its best to take them as it gets boring if you dont.
Noumea is a scary place. All the shops were secured with screens and the locals stand in the shop fronts.
Isle of Pines is a nice spot, but little to do or see. The locals set up a mini market. Costs $5.00 just to see a coconut crab.
Suva and Vanuatu are the best locations.

Walking through a childcare centre is probably worse...
