Fatima Kdouh shed light on the club’s attempt to restore pride in the famous blue and white jumper, revealing the lengths they went to throughout the pre-season.

“The Bulldogs did an all encompassing review at the end of last year and one of the things that came out of the footy department review was that they lacked skills across the board as a football club,” Kdouh said.

“So they brought in a guy called Steve James, he’s deconstructed their attack to the point that he’s been teaching them to pass a ball. Clearly there’s a lot of work to go.”

I loathe that rothfield maggot but his words were spot on about our roster and salary cap.compared to other rosters we are a 6 mill team that's paying overs.
were a mess and it hurts to see. 4-5 years until we're back on track I reckon.

1. Des was right to not push an attractive style of footy and insist on grinding out wins and hope defence can hold out because he knew we didn’t have the players with enough skill to execute a more flamboyant style of play.

2. Is Deano delusional that these guys can pull off a more attacking game plan than the previous squad?

Deano IMO is trying to do more with less..
(I do not buy into the theory that our current squad is stronger than last years...sorry!)
I think Des’s problem was he underestimated the talent in his team, and Deano is overestimating it.

This isn’t going to be a fun season.

Let’s hope Deano can polish up enough of the turds that we have in the squad to avoid the spoon. That’ll do me!

Rothfield said we’re spending $9.5m on a $6m team. Well what do you think we’re trying to do Mr Rothfield, we’re trying to fix that by offloading overpaid players to get to a situation where we are spending $9.5m to get a $9.5m valued team, that’s why we got no one! It doesn’t happen overnight!

I agree that our team is not worth 9.5million dollars. But I also believe that the roosters,storm and broncos are way over the salary cap.

Besides, a few tweaks could definitely change things up.

Must change imo:

CHN needs to start next game. jMK needs to be replaced with Ogden or someone that knows how to make metres because we had no go forward. No point having a utility when there is no go forward.

The squad is completely different to what Des put together. We have new halves (barring Lichaa), new forwards (barring Tolman and Jackson) and new backline (barring hoppa). they may not be as talented as the Des's squad but If last 5 games of the last season are anything to go by, this sqaud is more than capable of making the 8.

Agree. There is no way our team is worth anywhere close to 9.5 mill. But, I do think deano and whoever is responsible for the squad and recruitment underestimated how badly we needed players for this season. I think deano thought that the guys will go okay( and they still might as it is early days). But deano will definitely be sweating on the fact that he could have signed a flash hooker for this season.

Agree 100%... the other issue is, there aren't enough top players to go around, unless a miracle happens and all of a sudden we find gems, we are going to struggle for a long time to come.

They were all getting overs except Klemmer and the mozzies because they were worth their pay packet. The mozzies couldn’t be resigned for the money or length of contract they wanted for obvious reasons and Klemmer decided to jump ship after the mozzies were let go. If Klemmer left earlier then maybe we would of been able to retain at least one of the mozzies. The way it turned out in the end meant that instead of becoming competitive in the player market in 2021 and having a lean year in 2020, it’s turned out that we will now become competitive in the player market for season 2020 and having a lean year in 2019. So the process has been sped up.

There’s no doubt we’re in a shitty predicament with this roster.

To be competitive at all this year our forwards need rip in, at least go forward...I think Pay needs to make a few changes starting with Jacko going to lock and bringing Martin back into the side, tweak the bench rotations.
