It was a disappointing result-
We were outplayed, outmuscled & out enthused. Right off the pace
Factor in:
The Warriors start every season on fire last year they put 30 points on Souths & Easts in the first 4 rounds and then.....
Napa is not match fit, his “hampered” preseason commenced in mid January & would be more effective coming off the bench.
Tolman is ineffective at front row.
It was in the middle that the Warriors won the game.
Holland is not NRL quality.
Our contact defensively was sloppy & passive.
Our defensive line was jaggered & pedestrian.
RFM once again demonstrated his poor work rate & defensive technique.
We were dominated with ball & constantly put on our backs rendering quick pay the balls impossible- can’t blame Lichaa .
I would probably replace Holland with Hopoate & bring in Meaney at fullback at this stage.
Start Fualalo with Napa off the bench

Defence needs to be aggressive & more decisive our wrestle needs urgent attention Mr Babic.
I give this 17-18 players 4 games to improve it’s then up to Pay to answer some questions if we’re not competitive.

I’m hearing whispers that Noddy may be a candidate........watch this space
Chris Anderson is apparently gaging to coach again. Unsure if it’s true or not but I was told a few months ago that he would be coaching the dogs at some point this season as care taker coach and stay on thereafter.

Our club is becoming the pits. I am embarrassed and feel sorry for Napa and RFM. What must they be thinking of us?

1. Hoppa - Keep him there for time being. Meaney isn't pressing for the spot.
2. Montoya - Move him out of centres and onto wing where he is at least decent under the high ball.
3. Crichton - Moved into centres to avoid being outleaped on bombs, and to break tackles.
4. CHN - Toughen up defence in centres and provide good offloads to winger. Wil help Montoya in defence.
5. R Smith - Outside of Crichton would get quality ball.
6. Foran - Needs time.
7. Lewis - Needs time.
8. Tolman - Tries his arse off every game.
9. Holland - Has a decent offload, defence is okay (hookers miss a few tackles these days), but can pass and hit the mark.
10. Napa - Needs time.
11. Jackson - I still think he's treading carefully due to past injury.
12. RFM - Like Jacko, returning from a long injury last year.
13. Elliott - Done enough to keep spot (at the moment).

14. Sue - Needs time.
15. Fualalo - Done enough to keep spot (at the moment).
16. C Smith - Decent pace, and swapped with second row or lock could potentially cause problems.
17. JMK - In case Holland needs a breather, and to cover injuries.

1. Hopa
2. Montoya
3. Harper (even though he’s probably not ready but we’re desperate for a specialist centre and he may surprise us with the step up to FG)
4. Holland
5. Smith
6. Foran
7. Lewis
8. Napa
9. Lichaa
10. Tolman
11. Jackson
12. CHN
13. Elliot

14. RFM
15. Fualalo
16. Sue
17. Nu Brown

18. Martin

Ryse Martin must be in the side

Note cogger played well in reserve grade and I thought really controlled the

Cogger kicking game was way better. I think we were shot from kickoff. They came out all guns and we submitted. There seems to be no confidence in the side. I do believe they will get much better but they need to do it fast.

1 Meaney
3 CHN
4 Hoppa
7 Cogger
And I would almost carry Lewis on the bench

Only dropping Crichton from todays lineup?

Nu is a month away yet...

Martin was "meh" in NSW Cup today, but I reckon Chris Smith offers some potential and spark.

I don’t think there is an answer for our troubles. We are lacking up front, out wide and at 9. Literally need 4 -5 new recruits. If this was the result with our best out there today imagine after a few injuries? Cricket scores.

Nah.

01. Meaney
02. Crighton
03. Hoppa
04. Holland
05. Smith
06. Kieran Foran
07. Lachlan Lewis
08. Aiden Tolman
09. Michael Lichaa
10. Dylan Napa
11. Rhyse Martin (k)

12. Corey Harawira-Naera
13. Josh Jackson (c)

14. RFM
15. Adam Elliott
16. Danny Fualalo
17. Sue

Only issue I have with that team is crighton, he will be targeted every week with high bombs and he is simply too short to leap for the ball.
As poor as Montoya played yesterday I think he would do better on the wing then crighton simply for that fact that he can diffuse those high kicks.
Either way we are piss weak in the outside backs for depth unfortunately

Cant disagree with that. Been saying for a while that I would give Montoya one more shot at left wing which is most likely his natural position and were he played his junior footy. I'm very surprised he has only played a handful there before he was shifted to the right.

Im seriously worried Crighton is another Hoppa, just one that cant catch.

Opes is happy at calling all the shots in regards to the football department. He’s very close to Noddy this could happen as early as May.
Realistically we have the worst roster in the NRL glaring weakness is centre & wing. We also lack punch & penetration in the middle, Napa is not fit, Tolman is not a middle forward & takes up too much of the salary cap pie but is not good enough to oust our glut of backrowers. We desperately need to develop Toomaga at NRL level.
Our processes & systems are disappointing

You want to know the dumb thing or moronic decision, pay has Harper playing at left centre in Reggie’s when he’s a natural right centre
Instead of honing his natural talent and skill in his rightful position he has moved him to the opp side
Yeah blew my mind seeing that given Montoya is our right centre... he's got no idea sadly

Still really perplexed by Pay. Late last year things became very positive.

Holland, Smith and Jacko grew an instinctive knowledge of each other on the right edge as did Lewis and Martin on the left. Additionally, blokes like Ogden and Toomaga played their rings out for the jersey and results came because of this.

WTF then do you stop this momentum by splitting that right side combo and dropping players that play their ring out for their club and that got results.

This is a mistake from Pay.

Sue, Elliot and RFM based on the overall performance of the forward pack yesterday should be making way for Martin and Ogden

Additionally, Lewis should be the play maker given the freedom to create. Foran should be steering the team around like he did at manly when he was in his prime and if he is not capable then Cogger takes his place.

Breaking up the Holland side of the field is the most baffling decision for me. In a team with lots of new combos we had one that worked.

Poor old Reimis Smith might as well stayed in Sydney with the amount of ball he saw. He is easily our best back and Pay has devised a game plan that gets him even less ball......

They need more line speed and people cant be heros and jump out of the defensive line. Some interesting attacks that nearly worked, just needs more refinement. I think they will learn and adapt next week. Heres hoping anyway
Good point about the hero hits - they all missed, left gaps and used up their gas. Napa and Elliot in particular - not a brain between them based on yesterday - sprinting out of the line, "ripping in" - rarely works.

Ogden was very good in reggies - he would give some size to the pack and wouldn't need to play big minutes. Chn to the centres - he cant be any slower than Montoya, but would offer more in attack. . The squad is weak and apart from maybe ogden cogger harper smith and martin not much in reggies who would be suited to fg. . Cant really afford jmk and liccha in the 17 - Lewis defensively and effort wise is very good but apart from enthusiasm offers little in attack. Based on yesterday Cogger has the better kicking game and would be a better option for the bench.

I'd give this a try, don't know how realistic it is but I'd try anything...

* Martin starting - worked well with Lewis
* Holland next to Smith
* Brown to hooker
* RFM on the bench
* That midget winger fucked off for Hoppa
* Meaney to FB
* Foran fucked off for Cogger
* pay fucked off for SG
* Montoya fucked off for Harper/Idris

I'm sure I forgot some things but I'll add when I remember.

TBH not really.... in true kennel form you idiots don’t realise this but the dogs where over in NZ as the tragic and shocking events unfolded you guys would literally have no idea what that would feel like and most importantly how that could impact you... Warriors played their grand final yesterday and would of beaten any team in the NRL...

Make no mistake a terroist attack would be an extremely hard thing to mentally process being overseas during a terrorist attack would make it 10 times harder, imagine all of your family calling etc... not to mention the fact that the dude was Aussie and white who committed the act would create embarrassment...

After the first half possession was 65 warriors 35 dogs ..games over and that’s the way it goes sometimes. They do need Meaney in there has some real quality push hoppa to centre to add some class and I would put cogger at 9 or on the Bench for lichaa Chris Smith and jack nelson have to see first grade soon
