After a bit of thought and I'm going to back flip on a few things I mentioned leading up to this season but I don't agree with Deano's selections, but hey, I'm not part of the coaching staff and haven't seen the boys train like the coaching staff have, but to me the line up should not have Montoya in it anywhere and Martin should be in the run on side on the edge. This would be my team:

4.Holland
5.Smith
6.Foran
7.Lewis
8.Tolman
9.Lichaa
10.Napa
11.RFM
12.Martin
13.Jackson

14.JMK
15.Elliott
16.Sue
17.Fualolo


Our backrowers can play 80 mins and rotate the middle forwards.
JMK to give Lichaa a break 10-15 mins before halftime and after halftime.
CHN needs to be at centre for defence.

And Foran is key to a great season. If he stays fit, we'll make the 8.

I think this is close to our best team.
Kennelers have got to be a bit more realistic about the cattle we have this year.
On paper we're a bottom 8 side.
Rugby league isn't played on paper though.
I want to see the boys looking fit and fast, keen to be involved, hitting hard in defence, a good kick and chase for 80 minutes, offloading, supporting the play and overall just working for eachother and putting in.
I can't wait for kick off. I'll be going to the local for a couple of cheeky beers and might even throw a few bucks on the Doggies 1-12.

At a rough count that's 7 personnel changes (more than half a run on team) plus a number of positional changes including the bench. To me that looks like a rather large difference.

Hoppa has no speed and struggles to break the line. His ball playing ability and positional play are his greatest strengths.
Meaney, while looks like he can be a solid pick up isn't ready for full time FG just yet imo

Sure, he can break one on one tackles but struggles to break the defensive line

Addressing a few complaints:
Hoppa - at centre was a disaster last year. He isn't a centre and prior to 2018 last played there in like 2014.
Meaney - is defensively as bad as Montoya in 2018 if not worse. Yeah he can attack, but can't tackle to save himself.
Martin - is behind an international second row of RFM/Jackson/CHN.

If Pay names Meaney, moves Hoppa and adds Martin and we lose suddenly it's "WTF didn't he use Hoppa at fullback!!" "FFS WHY DROP RFM/CHN!!!" etc etc etc

Some people are never happy. I'd prefer to give this team a run and see how we go from there.
