I am not gay by any stretch of the imagination, But I've been in love with Steve Mortimer since he became a bulldog back in the late 70s, and will be eternally grateful to him for the excitement he provided to berry & bulldog fans. Thankyou very much for posting this Podcast. although I must say I was very disappointed with his answers to the questions, I am not sure if he was just nervous or developing alzimers or what, I seem to remember a young Steve Mortimer as a very confident & Competent speaker. anyway I'm really not sure if he was being completely honest with some of his answers & kind of came across as just wanting to be a nice guy loved by everyone in any case it doesn't matter I will always love the Arch-Bishop of Canterbury, and to cheer myself up I will do what I always do - I will go to YouTube & watch " Steve Mortimer Career highlights" and reminisce about our golden Bulldog Era with the greatest halfback of all time Steve Mortimer.

Listened to this yesterday.
. Loved it! I had no idea Gus tried to move him on.
Steve was a product of his times,
very passionate one club
man. It’s great that he still rubs shoulders with our players today.

Very approachable man, doesn't shy away from the community. Ive see him around the place, coffee shops, barbers, hospital, Lakemba RSL etc.. My mum had no idea who he was but she mentioned that a friend of hers from shuttleboard 'Steven ' used to play for the bulldogs , God love her.. No wonder he's so well liked, no wonder he'd never move clubs. Just a genuine guy who excelled in his sport , played for his fans and is still giving .
