people don't seem to understand the tricks involved in working things out for yourself

for example if you need to know 37 x 8 you can just double double double or add a zero for 37 x 10 (370) then work out 37 x 2 and subtract that from 370

you should be able to turn 37 x 8 into 370 - 74

so 73 x 11 becomes 730 + 73, 43 x 16 becomes 430 + 215 + 43

I always got in trouble in maths in high school 'cause I couldn't remember the formulas (due to being too lazy to do homework) so I'd make up my own formulas. I'd always get the answer right but I'd be marked down points' cause I didn't use the formulas they wanted me to use.

Let's say you want to calculate 28 x 19, I could do that for you in about 2 seconds

All you need to do is get to 28 x 20 then subtract 28

So anything multiplied by 10 is easy, just add a zero, so 28 becomes 280, double that to get to 560 then subtract 28

560 minus 28 is 532, 28 x 19 is 532
