We didn't let Cook go.. we made an offer, Souths made a stupidly absurd offer and guaranteed starting hooker spot. We couldn't offer the same amount of money or an 80 minute hooker spot.
Ok thx, but it’s still kills me how we can’t keep the best players.

Keeping our best players has been a major problem, and it goes right back to 1989 when we lost about 6 or7 from memory. What really got my fired up was losing SBW and Mason, and it was done by outside forces with the intention hurting our club.

I think if we are on the look out for a hooker my choice would be Brandon Smith from Melbourne.

Im happy to make a good play for Brailey but given he is expected to get some time in first grade this year, might be hard to lure him.

To this day I still do not understand how a coach can see a player carving up in first grade the way Cook did in 2015 and not offering him a contract.
For me that was the last straw with Des. How on earth can you not re-sign a player that was performing so well on the field like that.
That’s why he’s called the nutty professor. Who knows what goes through that ***** brain. I don’t think he even knows.

People are jizzing about Blayke Brailey. Is he better than Jack Cogger?
He isnt tougher. He is not a better organiser. He is worse defensively.
So whats the reason for the vote of confidence in Brailey?

Hes been training as a hooker. Theres not a lot of difference now in halves and hookers.
Cogger is a good ball distributor, and thats sadly been missing. Dont sell him short as hes a competitor.

Still spewing that we lost Cook.

I get stomach cramps when I see him carving it up in other colours.
It's also hurtful to think of players that never came to our club when they were getting pushed into our direction.
ie lantrel Mitchell. Cameron Munster.

I think it would be a mistake to rush out and buy a young hooker until the end of the year I really like the looks of Gray and Jason Hetherington's young bloke in Flegg they have potential written all over them.

See how they develop over this season and we might only need a veteran NRL hooker for a year until these guys can be eased into first grade.
