I wouldn't say 2014 was a great year for consistent performances. They had a good start then feel away badly in the back half of the season and then had that one great game against the Storm which gave them a easy run to the GF.

It looks good in the history books because they made the GF but they were weren't a great team.

Cowboys were the best team in 2014 but were duded as we all know in the semis... having beaten Souths in both their regular season clashes, there is a high likelihood they would have taken the big one

I really hope that this year he turns it around and we have a good season. I’m happy to give him a 2nd year to show us what he can do. I can however confidently say that not ALL the Bulldogs coaches are on the same page with Pay . That’s no surprise, all coaches do not have the same football philosophy .
End of the day though Pay is the head coach and he is the one that will cop the criticism or accolades depending how the team is performing.

Yeah totally agree, our lads did awesome to even make the GF though, generally the team that wins 3 finals games in a row is the team that won the GF. I do think think that awesome run in the finals did cover-up some issues with our squad, instead of questions been asked, they were over-looked because we did make the GF and that pretty much started the downward spiral to where we are now.

I agree. He looked like he attacks the high ball pretty confidently and times his jumps really well. From what I saw of him he seemed to be pretty keen to act as a support runner, but his team mates didn't seem willing to pass to him last year. I still haven't seen a lot of him but I think he might be a puzzle piece that we've been missing.

Let’s not forget that the decision to upgrade JMK instead of Lewis could have been catastrophic if Mbye hadn’t moved on. IMO the successes of last year were almost by accident rather than a deliberate action by Pay. Lewis at half, Martin’s general play and goal kicking & Holland and Smith’s combo wouldn’t have existed without injuries to Pay’s starters.
Let’s see what he does in year 2 but I feel the success of this team will be tied quite closely to how Foran goes in 2019.

Favorite part of your post is in bold if you aren't able to settle a bit. Take a chill pill bro. We're all Bulldogs fans here. Like others have said we're all entitled to an opinion. I wasn't all that keen on recruiting Pay when Cleary was available, but I'll support him while he's here. Our admin and Pay have hopefully sorted out the worst of our cap issues now. With any luck it will work out like our glory days when our staff were able to find under-rated players who quickly start looking like world beaters in our squad. But time is going to offer us better perspective on both our players and Pays ability to bring out the best in them. In the meanwhile lets not et overly narkey on each other for having opinions.
