Exactly what I'm saying... if we say Cronulla are cheats, we're lowering ourself to the same level that those who labelled us rapists are!
Not even remotely the same. Our players were cleared of wrongdoing and the chief investigator publicly vilified the media for running the story for as long as they did. Cronulla were convicted by ASADA but copped the old sit in the corner till you feel sorry treatment from the limp wristed admin at the time. I guess they were afraid that they would lose a few dollars by standing the players down. Complete farce.

Does that necessarily mean they took them with that knowledge?
Yea it does it’s their bodies they have the responsibility to know what’s in them. And you are assuming they didnt know they were on banned substances but that’s exactly what a guilty person would say...

Yeah I don't agree either. They failed a duty of care to the young players and their parents who leave them "hoping" that they will look after their well being.

IF you don't like that part then all you have to do is look how the Sharks handled it after being found out. All of them except Sandor Earl acted exactly like drug cheats by trying to avoid responsibility for their actions and then the pathetic "time served" punishment that was gifted to them. Was that enough? Absolutely not for the club Captain, he still complained about the punishment he got. Sandor Earl was made to be the scape goat and they destroyed the young blokes career. He was the only one with integrity and if he was my son I would be very proud of him. They went underground, collected the drugs in carparks and acted like they knew it was wrong. They tried to gain an advantage, did and got caught. Flanagan should have been banned for life. No-one leaves us alone for various things so sorry, they are drug cheating, salary cap breaching cok smokers and they deserved a lot more then they got!!!

They had peptides in their bodies mate.....
Yep. Don't get me wrong, I don't personally have a strong opinion one way or the other on the Cronulla case.

It's been a while, but does anyone remember what Paul Gallen's defense was? I'm assuming it was something along the lines that the club doctor injected him and told him it was something legal?

From memory, I also remember there being enormous confusion about whether that particular peptide was banned, or whether it was banned at the time it was taken?

I see various specialists and am on roughly 8 tablets a day. 6 in the morning 2 at night. Whenever the doctor/professor/whoever prescribes it I ask several questions. What it does, how long I'll be on it, what are the side effects, is it absolutely necessary and so on.

I don't, for a second, believe they didn't know what they were being injected with, they're not 2 and even IF they are genuine and didnt know, they're still at fault for not asking questions. Or getting regular blood tests, FFS.

Fuck fuck Cronulla!
If you think the sharks didn’t know what they were taking , then Rennie didn’t know what he was taking to.
but he still got a 2 year band for a fat loss pill.

I don't know about everyone else, but I for one am sick of it.

They deadset did NOT know that they were taking peptides or supplements that were barred, it was all the fault of that club guy they hired, and they did not hire him under thinking he would do that. He drugged the players up so they would perform well so it would reflect on him and he would look like he was doing a good job.

Now people here who hate the Sharks for this are no better than those people who hated on us during the 2002 salary cap scandal and 2004 rap b/s so guys please... just let it go. It will be another 50 years before they win another Premiership anyway.

Besides... I'm glad they won it in 2016 over the Storm!
Yea mate you're right. We all would just sit there and get injected without asking what we are being given. Totally innocent

Next thing you'll tell us all Damien Keogh wasn't charged with cocaine possession.

Peptide Paul and his merry junkies were punished by the NRL, so clearly there was enough to link the needle lovers to it.

If there was something illegal being injected into them, do you really think he would tell them???

Even when blueboost gets beef injections he asks questions

Why do you even care if people are saying shit about a different club? The fact is they pled guilty...if you any of them had any principles or if they were given the drugs by a Dr and the club lied to them. You would of thought at least one of them would of pled not guilty to being a drug cheat

I disagree,

The young guys, sure, but the likes of Gallen and Flanagan should have known better and done some diligence on what was being used, they escaped Scott free, when they shouldn't have

I agree, they trust their trainers... It takes guts to go against your employer especially when they can stand you down, sell you off in a instant. These guys have a limited time in Nrl and those big bucks.. I don't think they'd be dumb enough to risk it all on just a hunch. If anything they're victims

The onus is on the athlete to know what is going into his/her body. ALWAYS. Whether you are a swimmer, or a footy player.
I know that, however, as I said, all the players can do is "ask" questions - if the team doctor answers them and lies about it, by saying no peptides or anything illegal for that matter is going in their bodies when there really is, what are the players supposed to do?

That's because of how grey the entire situation was. The basically had 2 options:

(a) Please guilty get a 3 month suspension from the game (which was very convenient considering it was the off-season)
(b) Fight the chargers and risk 2 years to life ban from the game.

Of course they were going to plead guilty, it doesn't mean they were.

Look at us, in 2004, we got fined $500,000 by the NRL for bringing the game into disrepute because of the rape bullshit. Did we do anything? No... yet we were fined.

Peptides aren’t illegal anyone can get them.
But it’s illegal when you play sports and use them to cheat.
