The Panel appointed by the South Sydney Rabbitohs has completed its investigation into a complaint made regarding inappropriate conduct by a Rabbitohs player in May of this year.

This investigation arose from reports in the Daily Telegraph on 14 and 15 September 2018, and emails sent by an anonymous complainant in May, June and August 2018 which alleged inappropriate conduct by a South Sydney player on a Facebook Messenger video call.

After being informed of the matter, the Club committed to investigate the complaint in consultation and co-operation with the NRL Integrity Unit. It appointed a panel consisting of Commissioner Lea Drake (Independent), Karyn Murphy (NRL Integrity Unit), Nick Pappas (Rabbitohs Chairman), Emily Grant (Rabbitohs Head of Operations, People and Culture) and Blake Solly (Rabbitohs Chief Executive Officer) to investigate and report upon the complaint.

Representatives of the Panel interviewed South Sydney players and staff. The Complainant was interviewed privately by Ms Murphy. The Complainant declined to be interviewed by the Panel, and did not want her identity disclosed, which the Club has respected. The Panel has also reviewed all available documentary material.

Based on a thorough review of the available evidence before it, the Panel was not satisfied that any South Sydney player engaged in any actionable misconduct resulting in a breach of their NRL Playing Contract, the NRL Rules or the SSFC Code of Conduct.

The Rabbitohs have no further comment to make at this time.

RLPA STATEMENT
The Rugby League Players' Association (RLPA) can provide the following statement regarding South Sydney's investigation into a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct:

"The RLPA acknowledge and support South Sydney's decision that no player breached their NRL Playing Contract, the NRL Rules or the SSFC Code of Conduct," said an RLPA spokesperson.

"We also commend the club on the thorough review that it undertook and the expert panel that oversaw the process.

"We were disappointed by the decision to publish certain images in this case and some of the public commentary before all of the circumstances were known, particularly given the sensitive nature of the allegations.

"We also have concerns about the public disclosure of confidential information during the investigation – that is unacceptable.

"Regardless of the nature of the investigation, fair process demands that confidentiality is maintained, and that all parties and the process itself are respected.

"When information is leaked, or people jump to conclusions, it can be extremely damaging not only for the individuals involved, but the game of Rugby League as a whole. There is no integrity in such actions.

"We will continue working with all of the relevant parties to address these concerns."

As you can see, souths played this far smarter than our club did. Which is why there is no quick fine like with us. Dogs board was submissive and bent over straight away.

Thats the difference.

Thats all I'll say.

So leaking information hurts the integrity of the game but not a peeping Tom who takes photos of a private function

Hahahahahaha bullshit

The plain fact is souths are a protected species

Bullshit! Greenberg came out straight away demanding a report within 24 hours from us and fed the media frenzy where we had no choice! He disappeared for Burgess and let Souths form their own “investigation committee” to hand down their own findings. If you can’t see the gross double standards you’re blind.

To me the difference is Souths knew in May and had plenty of time to work on it. As I see it wasn’t it kept quiet till now.? The Dogs were fined before they had time to act apart from being under pressure to fine our players which no doubt is the nrl doing. The nrl in this case has from the start supported Souths and still do. Not one word of why the nrl was not informed in May or were they ? It seems the nrl and Souths have both worked together in this and our dogs were on their own as usual.

You certainly hope our Admin have learnt a lot. Within half hour of our next DT front page, we have to have our lawyers, QC's, Integrity Unit members ready to get on the front foot.

I dont think our fans are gonna take this rubbish any more.

If our Admin can't protect our club and be proactive against this hypocrisy, then Dib might get back in :grinning:

We must be professional and present the facts and we must stop the hemorrhaging.

And we must wise up our players above all else.

There's nothing to say the club won't. It sounded like when releasing they were challenging the fine, that the club wre weighing up legal options.

I'd say they'll wait till the NRL and decide from there.

Club may even have a case to sue the Telegraph for the cost of the fine.

Easy to defend your players when you already know the NRL is going to let you get away with it.

Look at Greenbergs quotes between the 2 incidents. With Souths his attitude was 'Wait and see' with us his first statements were 'Unacceptable' and 'we are looking at sanctions'. Souths got to investigate themselves while we were fined before our investigation was complete.

We cannot respond like Souths because the NRL is a different beast when dealing with us.

We get the attack dog, Souths get get mans best friend.

People also forget (or don't care) that there was a shitload of CCTV footage available that was without a doubt proof of what went down during our incident.

Completely agree. However we must start defending ourselves and present some balance (even if we know it's going to be shot down in flames).

I bet our Admin were still in shock. Andersons were away. The situation was blown out of all proportion and NewsLtd were like a savage wolf pack. We were going to be torn to shreds...nothing like the laid back handling of Burgessgate.

Still the club must learn from this. Just as Souths and Melbourne train for pressure times on the field *tonguewink* our clearly persecuted club must develop strategies. Get QC's and lawyers NOW (Burgess' to make another statement to DT and NRL) for our Mad Monday defence AND actually retain these guys for the future.

Next we need to hire the best public relations firm and people that money can buy. As well as marketing, personal development, recruiters, sports behavioural experts in Australia and reset the thinking, confidence and future of the club. It's been a torrid few years and needs to be wiped clean for players and fans.

We cannot afford to constantly be the "baddies" in every instance. The fans are fed up, we have less opportunity to grow the fanbase, we won't be able to recruit top quality players (they'll decide to go to a more palatable media friendly club).

That all happens, the club will fall by the wayside.

This is now something urgent that the CEO, Chair and Board must address.

Sorry for the rant but I'm fed up with all things NRL and want us to grab this opportunity by the scruff of the neck and change our destiny from what Newscorp and NRL have planned for us.

Excellent points.

Our initial response had to be different than Souths, we deal with a different NRL than they do.

What is important is our next step.

Peter Moore knew how to deal with this crap, hopefully his daughter and Anderson have learnt from him, our next step will tell.

I live in hope

And let's not forget that proctor and Bromwich were caught on CCTV doing something ILLEGAL -slap on the wrist

We had a mad Monday in the PRIVACY of our own leagues club and still the media camped out trying to get us and again we were roasted

It's not just the media but the fucking nrl too.

I bet you the NRL did know about it in May but said nothing because the girl hadn't come forward besides the emails which apparently went to the junk folder.

The only junk folder here is the NRL.

Banners at games next year
Yes but we have to be smart about it. Otherwise just giving them the angle to belittle us further and falling into their hands.

Jbrom and Proctor got fined and suspended. People also seem to forget that ours was a CLUB EVENT, that makes a massive difference as the club is ultimately held responsible. The NRL also sent out notices to clubs in the lead up to mad monday, but no we were still dumb enough to get caught.

I'm fucking sick of the excuses and crying Dogs supporters do over absolutely everything. The club couldn't even wear the right fucking jersey ffs. If the NRL tells you what jersey to wear, you fucking wear it. Not fucking hard. But no we still had fans crying over it like it was some conspiracy.
