Hopefully we can bring some players into our club from this partnership.

This will be the beginning of a new era both for the club and the region, premierships will ultimately come from this.

Great innovation. Hopefully other clubs will follow suit and support country areas. Would be great to see teams from Coffs, Wagga, Tamworth, Dubbo, Bathurst/Orange etc in the NSW Cup format at some stage soon. Maybe North/South Divisions with nrl clubs split across both. This is where we should be growing the game first.

Castle is a professional 30%er, she the got the job because of what she doesn't have between her legs as opposed to what she does have between her ears...!
I also forgot to say that earlier, Bullfrog would approve mightily of this.

I thought that with the bigger sponsorship deal the NRL are getting they would have kicked up funding levels and implemented development programs for the bush. In light of the fact that they're not doing anything visible it's great that our club is getting the ball rolling with it. It's probably not a bad idea to allow promising kids to continue growing up at home either.

As the article says, this wont produce instant results, but hopefully it will funnel some talent our way, while also having the flow on effect of allowing country rugby league standards to rise.

Great work, now lets get real professional and establish a youth playmakers academy for all spine positions.

I often hear of players that have just made the step up to 1st grade credit senior players for giving them pointers.

Well lets get ahead of the game by recruiting recently retired players in key positions to nurture our youth brigade.

So many players have come through our systems of late devoid of basic skills like a sufficient short OR long kicking game, unable to pass left to right, or off the ground, lack of positioning at fb, lack of communication etc Mbye could burn ppl off the mark but failed to use his speed to create simple overlaps.

Let us leave no stone unturned MBGA

Its good to hear names of club legends such as Chris Anderson and Mark Hughes being involved in the club's decisions and actions. Hopefully the terrible toll from the failed Stardome project and associated salary cap debacle followed by the Coffs Harbour police beat up, might find a reconciliation forged in the furnace of a common concern for the club facing tough times. Tough times brought about by giving control to people from outside the club.

Smart move as the club cannot sustain a local juniors program. Due to cultural shifts in the area, they just aren't getting the people coming through the ranks like in the past.

I'd like to have also seen them join up with Riverina area as there is a stack of talent down there to nurture as well.
Can you please elaborate about the so called cultural shift and your claim that people aren’t coming through like before.

Too many wogs, lebbos, asians moves to Canterbury Bankstown and they don’t make good footy players is what you think he’s saying right? Just an observation.

With Bankstown Sports association gone, and a smaller number of teams in the local comp, the Bulldogs just aren't getting the talent through.

With an increased/large ethnic and asian population in the Canterbury-Bankstown area, there is a higher emphasis on soccer rather than Rugby League around the area.

Have a think back at who the truly last successful junior from the area.... I can come up with Hazem El Masri in early 1990s, Willie Mason and Sonny Bill Williams. But they only came to the club at Flegg level.

I can't actually think of the last truly successful junior who came through Local Comp > Harold Matts > SG Ball > Jersey Flegg > NSW Cup > NRL.

El Masri might be close as he came through Enfield.

There's been a few but none are with us. Glen Hall, Reynolds, Mansour, Tapau, Latu.
Current. Klemmer joined local comp at 16. Montoya joined local comp at 15. Okunbor if he makes it.
Youngsters Dillon, Averillo and Talau were on target but we may have lost them

Dillon we definitely lost to the Tigers. Was confirmed by his management the other day.

Reynolds played Matts for Illawarra. Mansour only stayed local till SG Ball.

Taupau would be one...

Country players have great work ethic. Good move
You misunderstood, we are doing this purely to helo Country Rugby league. This has nothing to do with getting all the juniors there :grinning:
