I find this a rather stupid part of the deal for the Dogs if true

"Canterbury, however, will be forced to pick up the tab for the remainder of 2018 should Mbye break down"

Moses Mbye baulked at the chance to link with Wests Tigers this weekend because he desperately wanted one final hurrah with his Canterbury teammates.

It will be an emotional Saturday afternoon at the club's spiritual Belmore home when Mbye pulls on the blue and white jersey one last time against Gold Coast Titans.

Provided he avoids serious injury, Mbye will switch to the Tigers after the match and his first game will be in a fortnight at Leichhardt Oval on a Sunday afternoon – again against the Titans.

That match could also double as a homecoming for Robbie Farah, who is hoping to return to the joint venture before June 30.

As reported exclusively by Fairfax Media on Friday, Farah is keen to spend the final three months of his career at the club where it all began and where he won a premiership.

Fairfax Media understands Farah approached Souths coach Anthony Seibold about his Tigers wish on Thursday night after the club's big win over Parramatta, while his agent reached out to Rabbitohs general manager of football Shane Richardson.

Souths, the new NRL premiership favourites, will give Farah's request some serious thought and while they need a back-up for NSW hooker Damien Cook they are also content with current options including NSW Cup captain Billy Brittain and teenage local junior Josh Cook.

The bigger shock would be if Farah remained at Redfern rather than returned over the Anzac Bridge.

When Mbye met with Bulldogs coach Dean Pay a few weeks ago he informed him he wanted to stay put until the end of the season and then make the Tigers move.

The Tigers were so keen to fast-track proceedings they wanted to name their new No.1 for Sunday's game against Canberra at Campbelltown. However, Mbye had other ideas, wanting an opportunity to say a proper goodbye.

Canterbury, however, will be forced to pick up the tab for the remainder of 2018 should Mbye break down.

"I think it's worked out really well for him, especially being at Belmore. Hopefully we get a good crowd there and he finishes off really well for us," Pay told Fairfax Media on Friday.

"When he first signed he came to me and said he wanted to stay until the end of the year. As time goes on things change.

"He's been a good player for our club, it's just unfortunate where we are. It's worked out well for him and it's what was needed for the club.

"These decisions are always hard to make. He'll fit in really well over at the Tigers with their style of footy. It will suit 'Mo' and hopefully he goes well for them. He's an instinctive kid, we all know what he can do, and he's a fantastic runner of the footy."

Aaron Woods was widely expected to use Saturday afternoon's game as his own farewell before he linked with the Sharks, but the Bulldogs are not budging on releasing their representative prop to frontrunners Cronulla or any other rival for anything less than $650,000 a season.

Pay said Woods had done a great job blocking out the intense speculation about his future.

"He's such a good bloke ... he understands what it is. There is some interest out there for him but at the moment he's still here with us and that's how he's training and playing," Pay said.

"It's a credit how he turns up to training and performs. He's just a good fella. He's playing good footy for us."

Pay said a report that Kieran Foran was a chance to be medically retired was wrong. The playmaker is due back from an ankle and wrist injury in a fortnight.

Speaking on Friday, Tigers players were excited about the arrival of Mbye and possibly Farah.

"Robbie is a great player and still has a fair bot of footy left in him," halfback Luke Brooks said.

"And Moses will add a lot to our side. He brings that kicking game and he's a great runner of the ball."

The interesting part of this is Mbye telling Pay about the move and when he wanted to make it, sounds like Chris Anderson is really doing most of the work on these releases.

Also Pay pretty much confirms Woods is being shopped around, doesn't really appear to be media bs.

Fuck this article is an absolute mess to read... it's all over the place.

Note its also like a week old so the tense is all out of whack and parts of it no longer relevant (re injury to Mbye and we pay it). That was only if he got injured in Titans game.

oh and #FUCKMBYE

Seems to be the format these days. Start the article about a subject, go to another and then return to the main subject.

On another note: To let Mbye play with the possibility that if injured we pay the tab is a crazy decision. It's not like he was a fan favourite and had performed well over his time with us.

If Brooks thinks Mbye is bringing a kicking game with him then I don't think he actually knows who Mbye is.

So does this mean that Mbye's salary this year is paid entirely by the TIgers? Or is there a component that is going to hit our salary cap for a few years?

There must be at least some part paid by us. No way the Tigers could afford his full salary with the money they gave Reynolds and everyone else.

No freight paid by dogs for Moyes as he sought early release

Less freight maybe. He's still contracted with us and we shopped him around so there's a decent chance we're paying some of it.

Mbye said that he wanted to stay but the Bulldogs said that they can't afford to keep him. He also said that he wanted to at least play out this season but we agreed to release him early.

You have to assume that we paid part of his salary for the rest of his contract but the freed up money this year should allow us to bring in Lewis.
