My understanding, and it may be wrong, is that the club have 16 players signed for next year and have committed all but $800 000 of their cap to those 16 players, meaning they only have that $800k to spend on the other 14 players yet to be signed.

They will make us release players to get under the cap anyway so we would be in the exact same position but with the added bonus of lost points and a huge fine not the mention the awesome publicity it would generate for the club.

The forum in the next couple of weeks is to address this issue, as the current board promised during their election campaign that they would not pay a player to leave Canterbury and play for another club, but they have no other option now because of our cap situation

Paul Kent doesn't know his head from his arsehole ... and he certainly does not know what Mbye is on, nor how much he is on next season.

Any player we release before their contract, we will be paying another club part (or all) of their salary next year.. so the idea of shopping a player around to another club to lower our cap is complete and utter bullshit, because we don't have many players any club wants.. and the players that they would want, are crucial to our success in the future.

I'll say it again... nobody in the media has the foggiest clue about our cap situation and how much players are worth ...

I can see us releasing Eastwood and maybe the two Morris brothers, and with Kasiano and Graham off our books, that will be the end of it.. and happily the end of all media speculation.

According to one poster he has been briefed by the law firm that Canterbury use and there is no cap problem so don’t worry at all......

Would be pretty funny if the club came out at the upcoming meeting and was like "yeah there isn't a problem with our cap".

Eastwood will free up a decent chunk.
Add to that Graham and Kasiano no longer being paid for.
