It's clear we lack speed if the first 5 rounds are anything to go by.
The clean out needs to begin with shedding our slow, ageing and unskillful backs. Followed by signing up some damaging hole runners that can actually run the right line.
Need to go:
J. Morris - his key attribute being his speed has abandoned him, you only need to look at some of the long range tries we have conceded so far this year.
W. Hopoate - again lacks speed and any real threat to the defensive line, a very easy cover. And is on far too much money for what he offers.
B. Morris - Although he is packing a little more speed than his brother, he has lost much of his athleticism and a premiership contender isn't paying this much for a winger of his calibre
K. Holland - Should not see first grade again, can't believe we have offered him decent coin based on what he has shown during his short stints in first grade. Thanks Des.
We lack depth in the forwards, yes we have some real workhorses in Klemmer and Jackson, but beyond those two we need a complete restructure of where we are spending our cap money in order to add some damaging ball runners to the squad on good deals.
It is so sad to see our most damaging forwards being an unfit and overpaid Eastwood and a rookie still finding his way in RFM. This must improve.
Athleticism and speed is what we currently lack, outside of this we need to find Foran a partner in crime at 5/8th to pose a real threat to the competition and having any chance of a top 4 position. Marshall King is not the long term answer.
It is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better unfortunantely. We need to stick by Pay while he sorts the shambles out.
