As far as positional changes, all the hype this year have been centered around Moses Mbye. I had a few hours to kill today so I re-watched our 2 games and concentrated on Hoppa.I noted relevant stats and then compared them to the NRL official site. These were the results: Hoppa made 46 tackles, more then rest of our threequarters combined (41). He also made more hit-ups (25),running meters (241) and passing (43) then anyone in our backline. For tackle breaks only Brett Morris with 10 beat Hoppa on 5. Our threequarters had no try assists and Hoppa scored no tries. His ruck work in both defense and attack was not great but acceptable. His positional play in attack was good and deep but was sluggish and slow in the defensive line (especially when sliding right). I'm not trying to be the next Des just offering some basic stats to assist any feedback from the kennel. Looks to me Hoppa without being great is going good. I'm sure as season wears on his co-ordination in defense will improve. To me it looks like for 2019 we might only need to recruit for the left side of our threequarters.

I had time to kill at 3am this morning cos my boy kept waking up (mums away) lol

I watched highlight reel of all our back 5 plus Foran just to feel better about our predicament lol

Good points mate, good to see someone shining some light on another of our players who seems to cop more stick than is warranted. Worthwhile also noting that with those 46 tackles he's only missed 2. Efficiency of above 95% is phenomenal for defending in his position.

My first post. Now that I know the standard preferred, I'll observe the correct structure and construct future threads in a way that they flow better.
Fantastic first post and great observations, sometimes we're so focussed on getting our message across we forget to take a breath. I'm a Hoppa fan too, he's not flashy but safe and dependable and can step up when needed. Still think we need some guys with some real back burners to make our back line a top four contender.

I would move Hoppa to the left side if we keep him. Lomax or D.Walker are right side specialists and they are who we should target imo.

Good post mate.

He is not one of the problems. Far from it.
Hoppa is making good meters with each carry.

Good to see a few of you are noticing that Hoppa is a fair bit quicker this year. I did mention it a couple of weeks ago after watching him in Perth. He has also put on about 5kgs by the looks of him. He has been one of our best backs in the first two weeks and he is still adjusting to the position. another couple of weeks and he will start and cut loose.

He needs to be sold. Guy is mobile in defence and is an average attacker

Struggled again defending in the centres... either play on wing or not make the team...
