Stock for stock...

Does a 2015-2017 aurion give the subaru wrx the hurry up?

I remember back in the day when the wrx was first released it would show the old 1995 commodore dinosaurtec V8 a clean pair of heels.

The old commodore v8 with its 165kw 5.0 V8 just couldnt catch them and the police were scratching their heads at the wrx getaway cars.

But as the years went on, it seems the subaru wrx has not improved its performance since 1995 while everyone else became quicker.

Fast forward to 2018 and the toyota aurion has 200kw and 340nm torque, more muscle than the wrx.

The aurion is geared very well and does 0-100 in 6.2 seconds, on way to a flat 14 quarter, quick and it pulls hard from low rpm, has silky smooth v6 torque and costs less.

The auto wrx isnt in the hunt and the manual wrx needs a 5000rpm launch to scratch out a decent 0-100 time and even then cant stay with the aurion. It just doesnt have the top end power of the aurion.

Its sad to say but the subaru wrx, now seems to be easy fodder even to a family man toyota aurion.

Actually the new camry v6 is 224kw. It would slog the wrx, even sti model might be flogged

Hard to tell if you are trolling or not? standard wrx has 200kw and is lighter, it's a no-brainer. I can tell you from owning a wrx, those things are ridiculously easy to get significantly more power out of without spending a huge amount of cash (as are most turbo charged cars on the market).

Im talking stock for stock. I know turbo cars are very tunable.

But the awd system weighs down the wrx. Without a stack of revs the wrx dont move. An aurion will just blast away. Off boost a wrx has nothing.

Take them both around a track and the wrx will annihilate it

One day, just one day I'd love to wake up to the news you've decided to stop talking shit on here.

Here I was thinking you knew something about cars. Clearly that is not the case.

FACT #1 - The WRX has had significant power and performance boosts since 1995. Proof below.
FACT #2 - The only Toyota Camry/Aurion that would get remotely close to a WRX, would be the 2009 Supercharged Aurion models, and even then it would only just beat a 97 WRX, and would get trounced by any STi model.
FACT #3 - There is no fact #3, it only took two facts to tell you to stop talking shit.

1997 Subaru WRX (Std)
Power 155kW @ 5600rpm
Torque 290Nm @ 4000rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 119.7 (W/kg)
Acceleration 0-100km/h 6.2 - 6.5 seconds

2013 WRX STI / 2018 STI same but 143w/kg
Power 221kW @ 6000rpm
Torque 407Nm @ 4000rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 149.8 (W/kg)
Acceleration 0-100km/h 5.2 seconds

2018 WRX STD
Power 197kW @ 5600rpm
Torque 350Nm @ 2400-5200rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 137.2W/kg
Acceleration 0-100km/h 6s

2018 Camry 3.5L V6
Power 224kW @ 6600rpm
Torque 362Nm @ 4700rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 140.4W/kg
Acceleration 0-100km/h 6.5 seconds

2017 Aurion Prodigy 3.5L V6
Power 200kW @ 6200rpm
Torque 336Nm @ 4700rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 129.0 (W/kg)
Acceleration 0-100km/h 7.4 (s)

2009 TRD Aurion 3.5L Supercharged
Power 241kW @ 6400rpm
Torque 400Nm @ 4000rpm
Power to Weight Ratio 149.2 (W/kg)
Acceleration 0-100km/h 6 (s)

Love launching it and skids too easy with all that fwd power, always fun chopping some so called fast/tuner cars off the line lol

Not OP or trolling but only a very decent driver would be able to launch the WRX 0-100 and get 6 flat with the AWD system they have. Put Joe Harry in both which seems to be the majority of WRX drivers these days and the Joe in the Camry in a straight line will most likely come out on top.

This isn't Subaru's main problem but, I wouldn't buy either but the WRX styling and interior since 98 has left a lot to be desired. The interior just feels dated as fuck and the plastics cheap for the coin they ask. Not arguing it shouldn't still be semi decent around the track but OP there's a shit ton of hot hatches now that the majority of people would pick over the WRX anymore.

I think I followed what you are saying.

I'm still gob smacked that Camry is a fast car.

The numbers don't lie,

How about the kluger?
SUV is required in my household right now.

Have a Santa Fe

Do kluger go as good as Camry?

As i said in the OP...

The 2015-2017 aurion has 200kw, that is more than the base wrx. But the story dont end there.

The front wheel drive of the aurion puts the most power to the tyres. AURIONS will see 160kw at wheels. They get from 0-100 in very low 6s.. 6.2 secs to be precise. Aurion has had 200kw since 2007 but its lost weight along the way.. the last aurions are real quick.. they give a xr6 turbo a fright

The wrx has 197kw but the awd system takes much more power to operate. Typically a stock wrx will be lucky to see 125kw at the wheels. A 5000rpm launch is required to try and match an aurion.. destroys the clutch. Day to day and off boost they have no torque..

The wrx has had a little power increase since 1995 but its overall performance has not increased (due to added weight).. all whilst every other car has improved remarkably since 1995

1995 wrx 0-100 in 6.2 secs
2017 wrx 0-100 in 6.4 secs

1995 camry v6 0-100 in 10.2 secs
2017 aurion v6 0-100 in 6.2 secs

Whos improved?

Do you definitely need an SUV (just seems that everyone has them now). How about a wagon, like the Subaru Levorg, or the Skoda Octavia RS. Both would have a lot of grunt.

We wanted the following
7 seats - we often require it
AWD and better ground clearance - when we go on the beaten track
Diesel engine - for better towing
Wanted a spacious cabin
Wanted compact size for day to day shopping and the like,

We looked at everything when we got our Santa Fe

It ticked all the boxes for our lifestyle

My question on the kluger is more of interest
The kluger was to big and expensive for us.
