X2...

Yelled the place down abd the mrs would run into the room saying..."are you fucking crazy, the whole neighbourhood can hear you!"
Lol....I would just say, "Go away, I'm not happy!".
She was so happy when Des got the boot that she said...."Thank god, now the neighbors might not hide under their beds" :p:p:p

New Bulldogs coach Dean Pay wants club to focus on developing talent to rebuild its culture

DEAN Pay has opened up about how he aims to resurrect Canterbury’s famous culture from the ground up, with a heavy focus on “bringing our own kids through our own systems”.

The Bulldogs’ 48-year-old former premiership winning forward will officially take charge on Friday on a two-year deal after beating his former teammate Jim Dymock for the top job.

In a wideranging interview with The Daily Telegraph, Pay also revealed how he wants to employ a style of footy “supporters are really proud of”.

Pay also spoke about his plans to get the best out of new recruit Kieran Foran, while hinting at a surprise positional change for Moses Mbye.

While Des Hasler is locked in an ugly legal battle over a $1 million-plus payout, Pay’s message will sound like music to the ears of disgruntled fans and club legends.

The biggest criticism of Hasler from the likes of Steve Mortimer and Terry Lamb was that the club lost its “DNA” during Hasler’s six years in charge.

Asked how he would fix that, Pay said: “I don’t want to bag Des. His record speaks for itself.

“Do you lose your culture? Maybe sometimes you just have to reset it. A different voice, different training methods, different ways of doing things.

“It is really important people understand that I am really looking forward to the challenge. It is a club that I know really well.

“I can’t wait to get up there and sink my teeth into it and get to work. I wish we were starting pre-season tomorrow.”

Pay said junior development would be a huge focus.

“We want to put a big emphasis on our juniors,” Pay said. “We want to start bringing our own kids through our own systems. That is where we want to get to.

“The club has the foundations of a really good team. In respect to the effort and attitude the players showed during the year, there is a really good strong attitude among the playing group.

“But I will be working hard to develop a game of footy that the supporters are really proud of.”

It will be Pay’s first crack at being a head coach after more than a decade serving as an assistant under Ricky Stuart, while he also had outstanding success with the NSW Under 20s.

“Deano and Jimmy are both great mates of mine,” Stuart said.

“I don’t think they were going to go far wrong with the two blokes they interviewed. But I am really excited for Deano.

“I have been through so much with Deano as a player and as an assistant coach and I can tell you that the strength of the person is his character.”

Plenty of fans have understandable concerns about Foran’s arrival, given his on and off field troubles over the past year and a half.

Asked if he thought the now 27-year-old would prove a good buy, Pay said: “We definitely think he will be.

“He is a quality player. I just think over the last couple of years his fitness and his body have let him down. “That is the first priority with him. Just to get him fit and healthy.”

He also said he wanted Mbye to settle in one position, conceding that could end up being in the halves, hooker or even fullback.

“I don’t really want to say until I speak to him,” Pay said.

“I have watched him fairly closely and when he gets into a bit of broken field play he is quick and he is strong.

“We have to work out what his best position is and then leave him there.”

Obviously been following the kennel !!!
I've never met Pay but what I've seen and heard of him he gives me the impression of a serious no nonsense person much like Bennett which IMO is what we need.
Bellamy and Green might be prefered by some but in my opinion they are more scientific coaches, just like we thought Hassler was supposed to be and failed.

Met him once when I was doing Door Security at the Casino in Brissie. Walks up with Hetherington & Darren Smith blind rotten drunk. They look at me sheepishly not expecting to get in and ask, "can we come-in side", like little kids. I laughed and said, "I'm a doggies fan boys, fucking oath your coming in"! Lol, chatted to them for awhile and made my night.

Good move ! the worst thing they could have done is follow Souths and appoint the assistant coach, dymock in this case .

I believe when a coach is sacked a assistant should not be given the gig , as they are apart of the setup that is not producing results or getting the best from players .
Whilst I think dymock has potential he should make a move to another club

last 3 coaches had a bumper first year at the dogs

Folkes -1998 : Grand final
Moore -2009 : Should have had the minor premiership and made it to preliminary finals
Des-2012: Premiership and Grand final

Keep the tradition going Pay.

I've only been saying Mbye at fullback since 2014. Dean Pay looks like he's switched on and isn't arrogant. Haven't been this excited for round 1 in years!

He had decent wraps on him when he was younger though he never kicked on and had a poor run with injuries. Flanno wanted to turn him into a utility and even cover lock though that never worked out as he got injured again. I think he would make a handy utility for us though and i think you need that cover with the amount of HIA's these days.
Agree. Cleeland in the halves and Brown the bench utility.

It’s refreshing to have a coach who will also be a positive media presence. Was sick to death of Des’s cagey interviews and short responses. Pay will also serve us well in the media- one thing we have lacked off the field aside from other things

Don't expect miracles, Des has left this place in a very bad way

Throw dib into the equation and it will be a lot of work to get us back up

Our salary cap is screwed , players are very unfit, poor training culture and poor rehab/management of injuries

Then there is dib and who knows what he has cooked up

In all honesty just by identifying mbyes strength within a few hours of taking control he has done more for the kid then des has in 6 years.

I'll be happy to bring in the best junior talent from across the land like the good old days. Get them all to work out with Gary Cardin to get them ready. Then let us start dominating from U15s through to first grade again. And replace players with players that are more then ready.

Hasler couldn't develop a photo at the dogs. Hopefully pay and his team can fix that aspect up. Once that is back on track we have the facilities and the finances to do anything. Hopefully a premiership in the next 4 years I hope.
