A fullback who can catch, pass, kick, defend and is a ball player?

Sounds a bit too exciting for des.

Lol @ people who don't rate him, this guy shits all over Hopoate. Now that Hoppa is playing Sunday's you guys all of a sudden love him.

Cody Walker is a better player than Hopate, Mbye, Lichaa and Reynolds.

WALKER REJECTS EXTRA YEAR

Cody Walker’s management have informed South Sydney that they won’t be taking up his option for an additional season, as a rift over his current contract turns sour.

Under contract until the end of 2018, Walker has an option in his favour for 2019 worth $290,000 but has told the club he won’t be taking it up and will instead place himself on the open market.

On the market, he would command in excess of $600,000.

Walker is unhappy with his current deal, which sees the half turned fullback earning $200,000 this season. He is the lowest-paid starting half in the competition and several clubs have already signalled their interest with Walker’s management for 2019.

Seeking a pay rise on his deal for next season, which is worth $270,000 plus a car, the door isn’t closed on Walker remaining in Redfern long-term if the club tops up his existing deal but those requests have been iced until the club has clarity on what the salary cap will be for next season.

As it stands, Walker will be forced to see out his deal before joining a new club at the end of next year.

Going just off that highlights video posted, he seems to have a talent for finding players around him, but he looks slower than Hoppa, and isn't speed the big argument against him?

His top speed is lacking and if you had run in a straight line then Hoppa would have him covered, but i wouldn't really call him slow because of that. He has a great combination of acceleration, agility and balance and that allows him to cover ground over short areas quicker than pretty much every other player in the game.

Lol at Morons saying he isn't any good. He is pure class a ball playing fullback. Plodder fans never cease to amaze
He is such a superstar that the Rabbits are flying....oh wait, sorry. he did nothing against us and realistically has played about half a dozen good games in 18 months. Making out he is a superstar because he has done a few good things just isn't on. He's a reasonable player, nothing more. Mentioning him as a great fullback or in any other position is rubbish. He's not better than Hoppa out the back and while he may offer something in the halves foran and frawley would be a better combination or even foran and Mbye.

If the Bulldogs were a smart club we'd chase this guy hard. Wants a release from Rabbitoh's and is apparently only on 200k. He's a gun at FB and at 5/8, and has a few years left him in at his prime. Can solve a lot of problems for us.
You do realise the main reason he wants out of Souths is that he is only on $200k there.

We dont need him.

lol all you like brother, but have a look beyond the highlight reel on this bloke. Did he even play against us? He is the invisible man most of the time. You are looking at what he did last year in his first season in FG when no-one knew him or expected him to do anything. Now they have done their homework he is pretty much ineffective. Unlike hoppa who has played a number of Origins and is racking up more metres and offloads than Walker has had dreamtime moments. What is so outstanding about Walker? He is slower than Hoppa, doesn't ball play as well, doesn't defend as well. What is it? Good at the team song? Look if he was offered up for 300-400 he would be a reasonable buy but at $600+ no thanks.

HAHAHA FUCK ME I NEEDED A GOOD LAUGH, THANKS FOR THAT!

You have criminally underrated Walker, it is actually laughable how you think so little of him. I have seem him most weeks over the last 2 seasons and he is more often than not involved in most Souths try scoring chances and one of the top few best players for them.

Slower than Hoppa? He's only slower if you have a poor understanding of speed and think it is measured purely on how fast one can run in a straight line. Speed in footy is much more than just running in a straight line. I explained in a previous post about how Walker is actually one of the fastest players in the game. Ohh and the fact that you think Hoppa can ball play better is also laughable, you do realise Walker has almost double the try assists in just this season as Hoppa has in his past 2?

You also claim Walker has been ineffective this season and is living off last years highlights, really? He is currently leading the comp for try assists, 2nd for line break assists and 3rd for line breaks. In what universe is that ineffective?

Lets compare the 4 main key stats for halves/fb of Walker and Hoppa over the last 2 seasons. These are the only stats worth comparing that we can access online.

Walker
31 games
10 tries
23 try assists
24 line breaks
22 line break assists

Hoppa
24 games
8 tries
6 try assists
3 line breaks
8 line break assists

As you can see there is a HUGE gap here when it comes to generating points. Surely you won't ask "what is he outstanding at" again?

Hope you feel better now. Laughter really is the best medicine. 40 points versus 32 points and 7 more games? Are those the points you are talking about? Or is it that as a 5/8 who has 50+ touches a game versus a FB who in attack only gets the ball maybe 10 times a game he has more T/As? The bit about how last year when no-one had a plan for Walker just went through to the keeper did it? Seeing as you like stats, and I do like a person who backs their argument with evidence, let's look at them playing in the same position, ie. fullback.

Walker
9 games
3 tries
9 line breaks
3 try assists
7 offloads

Hoppa
21 games
8 tries
3 line breaks
4 try assists
22 off loads.

Mmm... suddenly that blinding flash that ran past you in the red and green jumper seems to be not that great at all - particularly if you hold the view that Hoppa is rubbish! Not that I do mind you. As I said earlier, Walker is a reasonable player and if we end up getting him at a lot less than $600k a year then it is fine but I'm not going to die in a ditch if he doesn't come over.
