Just raising a thought I had...

I say this because Des is a genius. It didn't take Hasler 5 years to snatch Foran across to the Bulldogs. He could have had him at the Dogs anytime.

It was more likely that he knew what was about to unfold during the past 2 years and Hasler being the genius He is didn't want this to occur whilst playing for the Bulldogs. Now that all the drama is out of the way, Foran can start fresh, set his mind right and have a long and successful career.

What are your thoughts?

No, I don't think he knew what was to come, I don't think he knows any more about how things will pan out than we do and I think if he had waited five years to snare Foran rather than looking at other ways to rebuild the team, that would make him an A grade moron.

As one of the more polite/suave/intelligent posters on the forum, I shall give the courtesy of a reply, as anyone with decent manners, regardless of race or demographics, would do.

Hasler, like most coaches, are on a short results based leash. They cannot, and will not, afford to waste time to develop a player or play long game games with potential signings and recruits.
Some short rope is given to some coaches with '3/4/5 year development plans' but that is in some exceptional circumstances, and if my gut is right, is a ploy to buy time with their own fanbase.

For this reason, even Des would not play Russian roulette with his career mucking around till then.

It is possible however, that Des has had the knowledge that he could always have him in the right circumstances, in the back of his mind. But the value to salary cap ratio clearly has deterred him from this option until recently. Given our halves/hooker predicament.
