For some reason I have a bad feeling about Foran signing

Before getting on to Kieran Foran I'll start with our coach Des Hasler. Its been said on this forum that Des has a remarkably good relationship with his players... a huge plus.
Now to Foran: It looks as though there are two versions of Kieran Foran.

1. The Manly version
2. The Parramatta - Warriors version

The Manly version was a five eight who was potent in attack, hit like a Mack truck in defence and had Des Hasler as his coach.

The second version was one who had family problems, gambling problems and contract come financial problems. There is a strong indication that these worries led to depression and the abuse of prescribed medication. And there was no Des Hasler.

Its anyone's guess that Kieran Foran could be a risky signing. But coming to the Bulldogs brings him back to his family, a coach who brought out the best in him and a club with rock solid stability. The reality as far as we are concerned is that Kieran is a gun five eight / half back and that is exactly what the Bulldogs need now. So lets get his signature on a contract on which the club's legal gurus and his management sort out the bits and pieces of fine print.

I have to say the club should be answering a number of questions about the signing of Foran (if it's true we signed him).

As I understand it, there are a number of serious allegations about him that are still being investigated in relation to a number of past (alleged) indiscretions.

He also walked out on Parra to resolve personal problems, only to somehow sign with the Warriors a few months later.

Why did he walk out on the eels and sign with the Warriors?

Why (if it's true he signed with us), did he leave the Eels for only a single year with the Warriors, only to come back and play with us in 2018?

Why didn't he go back to the Eels once he resolved his personal problems?

It's also concerning to hear that his phone is frequently confiscated and checked when he travels through Sydney airport by the authorities.

If he turns out to be a premiership winner for us in 2018 then who gives a fuck?

To be honest, giver foran and haslers relationship im more inclined to think that his signing with NZ was a mutual decision. If des really does care for the guy and have a strong relationship he would surely reccommend that he escapes the spotlight and enjoy the peace and quiet of NZ for a year so that he can get things back in oerspective. I think the club would have suggested this was the best thing for the club and him also.
Now he has had some time to sort his shit out, plus another 6 months to have it properly sorted, im expecting him to be an absolute weapon for us next year!! How long has it been since he had a strong stable club backing him all the way, and a dominant forward pack??!!

For a club that supposedly places 'the family values and character' of players at a very high level, I have to admit (based on past stories of Foran), I find the club's recruitment claims very confusing.

The operative word bein 'stories'. If the NRL see him as fit to play why cant you? And why shouldnt the club? Innocent until proven guilty in this great country. Its not america.

Melbourne pulled out of talks because the chance of him doing something that could blow up in their face was to big of a risk......even if that doesn't happen those hamstrings and shoulders are just as big of a risk

I think it's a terrible signing. Anyone who needs as many clauses inserted in their contract as Foran apparently does is a very good chance of doing us more harm than good. A shocking signing that has desperation written all over it. We'll lose good, committed players for this.

I've decided not to stop supporting the club ...although I did give it thought. I'll keep supporting regardless of the dumb shit we do. But fuck we are a stupid fucking club these days.

Don't worry Foran will come good. He was at Manly a long time when his life was stable. Hard thing for a young man to go through losing his wife and not living with his kids.
