People talk about Dogs of War, but the game has changed since then. Rushing defence these days earns you either a) a conceeded penalty for offside OR b) a chip / sidestep of a defender and a line break up the middle. The game is moving away from big immobile boppers like the Dogs of War had, to the ponit guys like O'Meley / Hickey wouldn't survive in the modern game.
That clip was based on 2006 Bulldogs side. 2006 - we conceeded 468 points that year with Steve Folkes as coach.
With Hasler:
2012 - 369 points conceeded.
2013 - 463 points conceeded.
2014 - 439 points conceeded.
2015 - 480 points conceeded.
Ergo, our defence in recent years has been better than the 2006 "Dogs of War" team. Our attack (admittingly) isn't as good, but defence is (except 2015) way better. Heck the best defence prior to 2012 was 1995 under Chris Anderson. Our current defence averages, take us back to a Chris Anderson coaching era of defence.
Our issue these days is our attack, and that issue is due to halves who have never had any halves coach to work with (who was decent).
