Just read Anasta is playing in the 9s. So some retired hasbeens are also playing in it. Gives you an indication how seriously some other clubs are taking the 9s. We shouldnt risk / play any of the FG squad in it tbh. Last thing we need is an injury right before the season starts. You can do a hammy playing touch so dont see the 9s as lower risk.

Each team has the option/requirement to bring back one retired ex star.

Thats a cool feature of the nines, aside from giving fringe players a run, its nice to have one of the retired players running around out there...... a rare good idea from the NRL.

I wonder if Manly got Menzies... they were talking about trying to get Beaver out to play in it.

We should opt for Grimaldi I reckon.. he's in peak fitness.

Warriors maybe Stacey Jones or Steve Price.

I bet we will be the last team to announce our 9s side too. If we are not taking it seriously then why not just announce it and be done with.

I think they all have to be in your top 25 and one has to be from your top 5.
Something like that.

Des should hand over the coaching to Jim Dymock each year, Dymock should be allowed to pick his own squad. which would include young and up an coming players with a bit of skill. Their main objective should be to throw the ball around and entertain.

Wouldn't worry me if they lost all their games provided they play attacking football and come away with a bit of experience. The regular first graders can stay at home and get ready for the first trial match.

Similar to what the ARU do with their 7's side , its full of young guys who no one ready knows as only a hand few play senior rep footy.

We don't seem to take it seriously each year anyway although I think we should , look at the cowboys and rabbits, they won the 9's and both went on to win the comp albeit in different years.

Anyway we most likely get smashed as we are playing the warriors, broncos and who knows what manly will be like this year

Every year we go good on des for not taking it serious ,most years we under perform and whimper out at seasons end ,yet teams like souths, cowboys, broncos take it more serious and have good seasons

Is it possible for a player to cop a suspension for the NRL season during the 9s?

Good question

Have players faced a judiciary in the past for indiscretions at the nines?

I have no idea. Surely they have to be charged for an offence?
