On Facebook I saw comments to the tune that maybe Cleary had signed elsewhere for 2017 and Gould decided to give him the flick early. Might be the only scenario that makes sense for sacking a good coach

Lol at Gus if he sacked Clearly for the walker bros. I doubt the walker bros style of coaching will work in the NRL. Its easy to play high risk low percentage play football against far inferior defences in the Q cup.

i would say ivan has parted ways with the panthers for some other reason then stated by gus, why would they sack a coach for the season they have endured based on all the injuries and problems they have had

maybe gus needs to look everything thats going on at the club, and stop laying blame on the coach

Gus claims Ivan Cleary wasn't handling the stress of the job, and Gould became concerned for his welfare. They had spoken of him taking a break from coaching, and eventually in an independent club review by Gould, he came to the decision it wasn't in Cleary's best interest to continue as coach.

Worth noting that NZ Warriors have already categorically denied they will be seeking Cleary's services.

anthony griffin was always going to be punted from the broncos, he never got on with the ceo at all and he spoke up about who the coach of the team was, led to a lot of bad blood there as paul white is close mates with bennett who still had a finger in the broncos pie even while at other clubs
