Remembering our horrible start to 2005 season just like reni says in the pic I cant believe its been 10 years

Glad he finished his NRL career with the bulldogs and still uses the tag proud to be a bulldog

Mason, SBW and O'Meley missed a LOT of games in 2005. I remember after the first game where we destroyed the Saints and Phil Gould proclaiming us back to back champions lol.

I remember that game like it was yesterday. 28-0 we were up at halftime. The bad signs started appearing early though... I think we allowed them to score 28 points themselves in the second 40min.

2005 was a shocker of a year for us injury-wise. Absolutely killed me seeing sides like the Dragons, Eels and Tigers being the top teams while we were struggling to stay away from the bottom spot.

Anasta had a very bad year in 2005. Was disengaged and thinking about his Roosters contract.

I loved our 2006 team.

We were missing our forward pack for the first half of the year and backline the second half. Awful year for injuries.

I think you're being pretty tough on Anasta to be honest. Did you see the team playing around him that year?

I think we played the Panthers in the final round. Anasta was copping it that day from fans... then the next minute he scores and everyone's cheering for him. lol

I remember that day it was the second last rd that was his 50th and last try for the bulldogs
His try scoring rate wasnt that bad 110 games for 50 tries

I think if we somehow kept him at lock his career would have been alot better than what it turned out to be

Funny thing aswell his last game for the dogs was against the roosters then his last game for the roosters was against the dogs

2005 was a shocking year because Folkes stuck with Anasta and let go Thurston. We have been paying for it ever since.

Thurston would've done absolutely nothing with the injuries we had in 2005, if anything it might've prohibited his growth. I agree we shouldn't have let him go given that the club should've known we were always going to lose stars and keeping Anasta over Thurston when Anasta's contract wasn't even extended in 04 (His contract expired in 05) was a pretty stupid thing to do. Thurston wouldn't have costed much to keep at the time and if anything should've been retained as a back up plan.
