Press your power button and home at the same time
- should take a screenshot (works on HTC's).
Some of these apps depend on if you drive, and your own lifestyle, but here goes.
Note: These are on my HTC M8.
MR I's MUST HAVE APPS
Astro File Manager - File Manager.
Barcode Scanner - for grabbing item serial numbers.
Battery ETA (decent battery widget).
Coles - Not bad for when you want to ninja shop as it'll tell you exactly where to find something.
Emergency+ - Must have for emergency services!
Footy Scoreboard - Because score updates when out are important!
Foxtel Guide - If you have Foxtel hooked up at home to internet you can link straight into your own box and tell it what to record when out!
Gumtree AU - If you use the site.
Live Traffic NSW - This is a godsend if you are out and about on the road. Tells you traffic and roadworks, etc.
NRMA - If you are a member this is invaluable.
Official F1 - If you are a fan, this is well worth buying, but watch the data usage!
OnePunch Notes - Notes and widgets.
Toilets (its the app from toiletmap.gov.au) - because sometimes toilet breaks come up at the wrong time!
Vehicle Log Book - Just got this and it's bloody awesome for logging vehicle kms, etc.
Woolworths - like the Coles app.
As you are in IT, you'll love the Android OS. It's very "tech head" based I find.
Speaking of which, tech based apps you might want to check out:
Google Authenticator - for sites that use Two Factor Authentication.
Fing - Bloody handy network mapping tool (put the phone on, go searching, voila!).
InSSIDer - Wireless network monitoring / analyzing software.
Overlook Whiz - Server Monitor
PingTools - Ping/Tracert/etc etc
WiEye - Another wireless network scanner.
Wifi Analyzer - as above.
Server Monitor - Server Monitoring App.
So if we have a server or a service on a server fail, my phones (personal and work) let me know very quickly what's gone down, and where to look.
Fing is an awesome bit of kit. Quite a swiss army knife.
As I have the HTC One M8, Scribble, Flashlight and HTC TV are built in, and all are kickarse applications.
Both my phones though, are not rooted or customised from stock OS.
