After five wonderful years as charity partner of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Rugby League team, Camp Quality has chosen not to re-tender for the Club’s next community partner.
Over the years this partnership has set a benchmark in terms of community engagement, which has been a real credit to the commitment, passion and values of both organisations.

With both organisations growing from strength to strength, Camp Quality has decided that the time is right to pursue other partnerships that enhance and provide different opportunities for our kids living with cancer and their families.

Simon Rountree, Chief Executive Officer of Camp Quality, who was instrumental in developing the partnership, thanked the Bulldogs for their unwavering support of Camp Quality’s vision.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to the Bulldogs for their support over the past five years – the Board, staff, players and the fans have all got behind our optimistic and resilience-building programs for kids living with cancer and their families,” said Mr Rountree.

“We will always be grateful for the contribution
they have made to not only our kids and their families, but in also assisting with increasing our brand profile and awareness.”
We wish the Bulldogs much success for the 2014 season and for a great future.

“It has been a genuinely great partnership and while our connection will continue with Michael Ennis and Josh Reynolds remaining as Camp Quality Ambassadors it has been agreed that the time is now right for us to both move on from the formal arrangement as official community partners,” said Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Chief Executive Raelene Castle.

What's this about??? Why would they not want to benefit from being associated with us with free exposure and what we do to raise money for them? Am I missing something?

I know Todd Greenberg had to talk them into being our major sponsor for free in 2009, but I can't understand why they would not want it now? it has been successful so what has happened? Is there something going on behind the scenes?

Actually I was told we paid them a one million to place them on our jersey to start with at the beginning. That how bad it was for the club back then.

What an odd thing to reject...I mean seriously...This is really really weird...why would they not want to continue being partners with people who help raise money and give kids a chance to see the NRL life?

Kids mustn't be getting sick anymore. Some people are morons. Why wouldn't you take everything you can get to help those poor little kids

Unless they are starting to not like our brand again and cutting us loose. Otherwise who gives up free money especially with sick kids involved, its border line insane.

Hopefully it will give another charity a leg up like JDRF which helps type 1 diabetics. The sydney kings got behind JDRF last year, it would be awesome if the dogs got onboard with them. They do a lot of good stuff supporting families of type 1 diabetics and hold events throughout the year. The sydney kings had their coach chatting to us as well as their captain and a few other speakers. Brett Stewart is a type 1 diabetic and does a bit, but it would be a great if the bulldogs and JDRF hook up.

Well for the sake of kids I hope they find another sponsor asap.

Still think they are stupid for walking away.

You could look at this any numbers of ways. Naysayers will see what they want to see, and run with it as 'where there's smoke there's fire'.

This is purely a case of corporate governance and boardroom succession planning : There are benefits for both parties by ending this deal.

For Camp Quality : It is undeniable that the last 5 years have been a resounding success. Despite early (and valid) concerns, they've enjoyed the trappings that the wider Bulldogs fan community can provide, and it's resulted in the Bulldogs being one of the largest (if not 'the largest') organisational benefactors CQ have ever had on board. Having Bulldogs on board for 5 years has certainly done it's job. Increased profile among a huge populus of otherwise 'unaware' citizens from the Bulldogs community, the contributions and volunteer efforts from anyone associated with the club, and the fatter bank accounts from our collective funds raised through ongoing and multiple streams.

For the Bulldogs : It was exactly the right initiative, at exactly the right time, that forced patrons and extended club representatives to have a look within their holistic selves and realise that in life sometimes the seemingly 'big issues' are really unimportant in the grand scheme of things. At a time when we were looking for direction, when we were looking to rebuild a demolished house and when we were looking for avenues of inspiration ... Todd Greenberg AND Camp Quality forced Bulldogs to exist to a higher standard. And the benefits, while not easily seen, remain with the clubs insiders for the rest of their lives.

Simply put, whether you're a contracted player, a staff member, the office-girl, a junior rep, or even a junior medico-type ... EVERY person leaves the Bulldogs a better person than when they started. EVERY person is thankful they got to be part of us. EVERY person takes away a little something with them, that gets put to better use elsewhere, had it not been for their time spent with us.

And there was a time when we needed to be reminded of that.

So here we are 5 years later, and everything has been roses ... but where do we all go from here ?

The last thing anyone involved here wants is for it all to stagnate.
So why not end it on a high ???

It's like saying goes ... "A rolling stone gathers no moss".
Both CQ and the Bulldogs are rolling stones. Big corporate branded stones.
If we stay where we are, the deal might gather moss on both stones.

Maybe it IS time for CQ to branch out ? After all, by staying aligned to the Bulldogs they risk alienating other codes/clubs and missing out on contributions/volunteers from millions of other people.

Maybe it is time for Bulldogs to pursue other ventures with worthy causes ? We can take the lessons learned from CQ and apply them to another place of need, and thus continue the legacy Todd and CQ partnership left us, AND/OR we can capitalise on the financial opportunity after 5 years of dedication and continue to secure our future in Sydney as a club in a marketplace of fierce competition for bums on seats.

It doesn't have to be a salacious event in the news ... but that won't stop feeble minds from thinking that "has to be the reason".

All things considered, it's as amicable a split as we could ever hope for.
Both of us won, and good planning now means we can both go onwards.

Great post. It's very sad because those kids idolised a lot of our players & now their visits will be from reality show rejects & others they have no clue about
There are obviously reasons why but as long as the kids were out first I'm happy

The positive from this is that this is a great opportunity for the Bulldogs to throw their energy behind a new key charity partner. We did great things for Camp Quality, raised so much money and gave away millions in kind from "money can't buy" experiences. Now we can do the same for another great charity.

Maybe camp quality got all they could in terms of money, exposure and player appearances and its time for a smaller charity that doesn't have the exposure or the profile of CQ to have a go.

At the end of the day the dogs did a lot to help CQ so they definitely can't say anything negative about the partnership. May be the case they outgrew us and its a chance to help another worthy cause.
