It's a three step.

Informal raise the issue with in present of a supervisor. If unresolved step two formal intervention where you will be required to place a compliant in writting to management and he will have 14 days to reply.

If you feel the lack of action you then can do protective disclosure statement which your work can not hold anything against you and they also must explain their lack of action on the matter.
I spoke to my team supervisor about it today since i've been traveling with him to work. I'll get on to the glasshouse supervisor about it tomorrow. If it goes no further than that i have a couple of mates from Uni that are Lawyers. I'll be sure to add their signatures to any written complaint i submit. I doubt it will get as far as needing a protective disclosure statement.

What would Eric Cartman do?

Shit on his desk and sprinkle hundreds and thousands on it.
He'd enjoy that more than i would, but thanks it made me chuckle.

F*ck him. Report him.
Don't worry about his family, you'll be doing them a favour.
Maybe that way his son will see his dad for the piece of shit he is and not grow up to be like him.

I'd complain. I put up with a ****wit at work for 8 years. He was bad at his job, rude, and always starting fights. Back in November I couldn't handle it any more and told the boss it's either him or me. So they sacked him. I thought I would kinda feel bad, but no, apparently I'm a heartless prick cos I took joy in it!

Sent from your mums house
Haha I believe they call that feeling justice porn. I think I'll feel the same kind of joy. I'm glad you made your workplace a nicer environment. I'll keep you all posted with things as this progresses.

Haha. I always feel judgemental when i look at kids with shit parents and wonder what values they will develop for the world or for themselves. If anything i just hope it makes this retard change the way he sees himself. Retards like this generally don't see themselves as bad people in my experience. He will feel wronged about this.

He'll probably bounce from job to job but only see fault in his employers and not himself

Screw it, report him.

I have no pity for assholes in the work place. If you are worried about your employment you don't put your job at risk by doing stupid things.
Agreed. Shouldn't be worried about reporting him tbh.

It's easier for you to break his legs with your training. You can do it while sitting between people on a bench. Taking on apprentices?

Yeah he's got the gift of the gab as proven by being stepped up to supervisor fairly quickly so i guess if no permanent mark is applied to his record he'll find other work. Issues for future employers to deal with. It would just be nice to know i won't have his rubbish to contend with when my alarm goes off in the morning. I've contemplated just leaving at times as it is one of the worst jobs i've had but i've been saving for a big holiday and don't want to start anywhere till i return.

I'm wondering what peoples opinions are about reporting someone from work for harrassment. So this is the background of the situation.

He started the job about 3 months back and on day one had been telling poeple i am gay.......

.
Not that there's anything wrong with that... lol (Seinfeld) but seriously I too would make a complaint and the sooner the better.

If it's anything like where I work he'll get counseling, mediation , rehabilitation , performance management and then 2 more strikes before he's out.

Do it. There are workplace bullying and harassment policies for a reason. The one place that any form of immature or demeaning behavior is not able to be brushed off, is a professional workplace.

It doesn't have to be an onslaught, but put forward your concerns to the applicable people. Frankly, he needs to learn that that attitude is not conducive to solid employment. Dicks be dicks, and they shouldn't get away with it.

That being said, have you spoken to the individual about your issues with him?

Mate if he gave half a flying fk about his son + income hed do what he can to protect it. Obviously he doesnt, and neither should you. Its genuinely nice to see that you have a kind heart but im sure a lot of us have learnt that being nice will get you nowhere fast, and just trodden all over.

You go to work to earn money, and do the best job you can.

You don't go to work to get harassed / bullied, and stuff like that is a BIG no no these days, as bullying is one of those buzz words these days.

Sounds like this bloke is the sort of idiot who will get sacked then cry to Today Tonight about unfair dismissal.

Pity you didn't raise it a month ago. Chances are he is on a 3-4 month probation, and would have still been in it a month back. During that period it's a piece of piss to dismiss someone for that.

Re your anger issues, I faced a lot of that as well many years ago. Best solution I was given is to distance yourself from the situation if you feel frustrated and ready to snap. Sounds dumb but it works. When I do snap it now, it's normally just a harmless cardboard box that get a kick, or I turn that anger into something positive, and get another job done :grinning:

6 month probation is the standard now. Report him. One peice of advice though. Never trust HR. Just ask yourself, who do they work for?
